What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"

  • Popular Post

What was the final thing that you encountered that made you say this is enough? I have had numerous.

1. Leaving a wife and 2 sons, Husbandless and fatherless.

2. Not being able to get on amusement park rides with my sons.

3. Not being able to take my wife to a concert, because i could not fit in a seat.

4. Avoiding restuarant, movie theaters and sports complexes with tiny seats.

For me, walking through a a department store and some little child looking at me like im a alien had to be one the hardest things.

Respectfully,

Joe

Sorry I'm not sure why it posted so many times!! But I'm glad I wasn't alone!!! I think renewing your vows is a great idea I'll Probley do the same! That way I can really know how it feels to be a beautiful bride!!!! Good luck with yours also!!! :)

I've had arthritis for a few years. This summer I realized it had gotten bad enough that I was spending many days just sitting on my couch because I hurt too much to go anywhere. My joints wouldn't hurt so much if they weren't having to carry twice the weight nature designed them for. So when I realized that my weight was making me hurt so much that I couldn't even do normal activity, that's when I made up my mind.

You won't be disappointed, same story here, I'm 3 months post op and feeling great, the ache is still there but it loosens up and any pain is controlled by OTC Tylenol. Stick to it and good luck.

My deciding factor was having DM 2, High Blood Pressure, feeling very short of breath with walking, joint pain, and having a fatty liver. When the Dr, ordered my labs my liver test was very high. I felt guilty for spending $10,400 for the gastric sleeve, but my kids were my encouragement and told me they wanted me around for a few more years. They were afraid i would have a heart attack and die. My Adult Children and grand babies are my whole life, and I'm not ready to die because of my unhealthy life style. I'm afraid to change, but my bad habits were killing me! I will see what going to happen since I just had surgery on 11/19/14.

1.)putting on 18w pants..and they were tight.

2.)my 6 year old worried about dieting and unknowingly insulting my size

3.)not fitting in a bath tub

4.)unable to balance in highgeels or dance

5.)NEVER feeling sexy

Im 3 days post op, i cannot wait to run with my husband, play outside with my boys, and dance in high heels!

  1. I am so glad to have found this forum. Like many of you, it was a compilation of reasons that "broke the camel's back". I took my niece to a Water park and I couldn't go down the slides due to the weight limit. I couldn't explain to a ten year old that aunti was too big, so I lied and told her that I was afraid of heights. Later on that week, I went to a concert with my sister and couldn't fit in the seat. That was it! I had enough. Although I am aware of the statistical amount of obese people in the world, I didn't realize how many shared my same struggles. It brings me comfort to know that I am not alone. I wish you all success in your WLS endeavors and may all of you reach your goals and enjoy every bit of life at concerts, water parks, roller coasters, and dressing rooms!

Welcome. We all get here in our own way.

Being healthy is a life style choice. I'm glad you made the choice to take the first step.

I'm 14 months out and 87 pounds down. Best thing I ever did.

Sitting in a room with 3 of my sisters and an uncle who were all diagnosed with diabetes around 50 and realizing that i was approaching the time that I might be a well. Since my surgery 3 months ago I am down 60 lbs, blood pressure has dropped and my feet don't hurt. I wish I had done this sooner.
