What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"

  • Popular Post

What was the final thing that you encountered that made you say this is enough? I have had numerous.

1. Leaving a wife and 2 sons, Husbandless and fatherless.

2. Not being able to get on amusement park rides with my sons.

3. Not being able to take my wife to a concert, because i could not fit in a seat.

4. Avoiding restuarant, movie theaters and sports complexes with tiny seats.

For me, walking through a a department store and some little child looking at me like im a alien had to be one the hardest things.

Respectfully,

Joe

The last straw for me was when I was fired from my job after working for my employer for over 16 years. I just didn't want another major failure on my hands.

So many straws.

Watching my cousin go from 400+ pounds, dieting down to 160 pounds, then bouncing back up to 400+ pounds and dying at 50.

Yo-yo dieting for 45 years, gaining a few more pounds every time.

Watching my sister yo-yo diet up to 280 pounds, and start to lose her mobility and her zest for life.

Having more and more trouble controlling my hypertension.

Developing sore shoulders and hips, that don't get better with physical therapy.

Having a fall and breaking 4 ribs ... and still having pain 15 years later.

Having a fall and breaking a bone in my back ... and still having back pain 18 months later.

Hating to see myself in photos.

Not being able to dress with the style I would like.

The last straw? Feeling like food is my master.

I hear you about feeling like food was your master. Been there, done that.

My wife was the "fit one".

The overall plan was: she would treat her body like a temple and live forever. I would treat mine like a pup tent. die young, and leave her a big insurance policy pay off.

She got a brain tumor. Now I have to care for her.

Also I was being photographed for a magazine article. I had gotten so big I had nothing to wear.

I saw a commercial on TV by Peyton Manning that went something like this:

" I'm an elite professional athlete. You're not. BUY A BIGGER SHIRT"

It Pissed me off. That is when I decided to do something about my weight.

Food is NO LONGER my master.

That is awesome! I am just waiting for that day when food is no longer my master.

1. Being diagnosed with fatty liver disease

2. Working in aged care with heavy older residents and see the rashes and mobility issues

3. My sisters both have breast cancer the weight increases my chances

4. Pains in knees ankles feet and going overseas and too tired and in pain to enjoy it

5. Seat belts in plane

6. My grandson and my children last but not least my husband I want to live a long life

I've been unhappy in life, and food was the only thing that was there for me... Then my fiancé would say things like you being fat doesn't bother me!!! But he would always look skinny girls, so I would eat more.. when I got sick and I have a hysterectomy, I gained 100 pounds, I was 100 pounds lighter... I am 65 lb lighter now !!!!

Having been overweight all my life, becoming obese just sort of crept up on me, so it took multiple little things happening over the course of several years in order for me to finally come to the decision that it's time to make a permanent change.

-My older sister being diagnosed as diabetic, and me realizing I'm not that far behind her.

-My mom having gastric bypass surgery four years ago, and now weighing almost 80 pounds less than me (!)

-Having the work clothes I bought 6 months ago getting too tight already.

-Not wanting to have my picture taken anymore

-Having trouble getting the seatbelt buckled on planes.

-Going for a hike that used to be fun, only to huff and puff the whole way through it.

-Shopping at a favorite store and realizing the only clothes I can hope to fit in are the largest size they carry.

-Trying diet after diet, only to end up defeated a few months later, then gaining it all back, plus a few pounds.

There have been hundreds of little moments like this over the course of the past two hears. I am planning my surgery for less than three months from now. I wish it could be tomorrow!
