Multivitamin Making Me Sick?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone has had trouble with their Multivitamin making them get sick. I have always had a big problem with taking Vitamin D, but never Multivitamins. I am now taking the Celebrate brand as recommended by my NUT. Since I've started it post-op it has always made me nauseous, but this morning I actually ended up throwing it up. I have gotten close to getting sick other days. I am supposed to be taking it twice a day, but now that doesn't really seem realistic. I had to stop taking one medicine last year because it did this to me. What brand/type/amount of multivitamin do you take? My NUT did say she'd like me to take a chewable, not a Gummy. Has anyone ever had this problem? What helped? I see my NUT on Thursday, but I don't feel like I should just quit taking multivitamins until then, so any advice is helpful. Thanks!

powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury.com has a chewable multi-Vitamin that is specially made for wls patients and you only have to take it once a day. I think it was $19.95 for a bottle of 90. I've been getting use to the Protein powders and they're really yummy. I haven't tried the Vitamins yet as I'm trying to get rid of my Centrum before my surgery.

Good luck!!

I got very nauseous taking the chewable multi Vitamin from Bariatric Advantage. I am going to try and take it at night. But I agree, taking it twice per day doesn't seem possible because it makes me so sick.

Those are the same one I take and they make me sick too! I actually threw mine up so I do still take them but at night after dinner. They still make me nauseous but not quit as bad. I will never take them in the morning again!

I also get sick from the Bariatric Advantage multiple Vitamin. Other brands haven't made me sick in the past, so I am probably going to switch to something else.

I use flinstone chewables-the gummies don't have thiamin so my nut advised against using them.

I am also using flinstone chewables, but I use the tablets and not the gummies. I take two at a time. They do have thiamin (B1). They are not making me sick. I liked the taste at first. Now that I am near the end of the bottle, I don't like them as much.

I have a bottle of Once-A-Day Vitacraves which are gummies. They make a lot of different sub-types of Vitacraves, but I don't believe any of them have thiamin. I take the Bariatric Advantage B-50 complex in addition to my multi Vitamin, so I am sure that I get enough in. These have not made me feel sick, but I was also recommended against using the Gummy form of Vitamins.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will have to see what I can find at the store tomorrow. Maybe the Celebrate just has way too much of everything for my stomach to handle?

I had very immediate nauseous response to both BA and Celebrate Vitamins. I gave up on them and am now taking GNC be whole multivitamins. They are regular Vitamins that you swallow but not difficult for me at all. Incidentally, I have been searching for physiological reasons why they made me so sick and the ingredients are very similar to the GNC vitamins except that there is Iodine in the bariatric vitamins, which isn't in the GNC. I'm not saying that's the cause, but I don't know why the reaction is so strong for so many people.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
