I kind of don't believe it....

Recommended Posts

Banded July 21st. Lost close to 30 pounds. Had one fill. Can eat too much. Booked second fill Sept 18.

Right now, I am having a hard time believing that I am going to one day be posting my own pictures on the Before/After Shots thread.

I guess I have failed at this for 25 years and can hardly believe that this will happen.

Anyone else have these doubts.

At the same time time a small part of me, KNOWS it will happen and I am very excited.

But it can't happen fast enough for me.

I remember the feelings you describe exactly. We were banded about the same time, only a year later (that makes sense, right?). I had a conversation with a friend, who was asking me what size I wanted to be...I could not even imagine being the size I am right now...which is a size 18. Couldn't even imagine it! Now, I'm trying to imagine the next size...

So, believe it! Just don't get impatient...it takes time.

You all make me feel better.

Especially knowing that you had the same strange feelings Mousecrazy. You are always here to make me feel better. Hugs.

I guess, I will just play these feelings out and when I get my next restriction then I will feel like it is more real. At the moment, my weight loss has stopped and I don't feel too much restriction.

sigh

Yep, I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop too. But, I'm slowly realizing that if I put in the effort and dedication then this will actually work this time! It's a scary proposition...I'm so used to just hitting my head against the wall. But things are different now...we're gonna make it this time!

I completely know what you're feeling. Just the thought that this WILL work, is such an amazing feeling but yet I can't grasp what it will feel like to be comfortable in my skin again. It's been years since I looked in the mirror and actually liked what I saw. I'm looking forward to the time when I can post my before and after pics as well.

Paulax,

At my last support meeting, we were talking about shopping for new clothes and bringing in our old clothes for exchange. I raised my hand and asked if I was the only one who took my old baggy clothes and put them in a box in the basement incase I needed them again (like I did for every failed diet before).

I know that I will NEVER need those big clothes again but this is still a new awesome journey that I am still getting used to. Where I am today, I haven't been in years (like almost 14 years).

I am finding old clothes that I packed away that I can wear again - and even found some pants that the elastic is now shot because it sat toooo long.

Everyday I am becoming more confident with the weight I have lost and can't wait for the lower numbers yet to come.

Congrats on your weight loss -

Tracy

Paulax...I can absolutely relate to how you are feeling.

I have so far lost only 25lbs (not complaining but I have done this MANY times before and gained it all back) so it still feels like an impossible dream to lose 96lbs and finally (after 8 long years) be slim again.

I am definitely having trouble getting my head around the fact that.....this time I will lose all my excess weight!

I still find myself reading over all the threads from people who have not had great success with the band, have had slippage or have had to have it removed and keep thinking that will be me.

It just seems almost "too good to be true" that the lapband will help me finally achieve my goal. :D

Just revisiting my post.

Now it is, Oct 30, I am now down 42-43 pounds somewhere in there.

NOPE STILL DON'T BELIEVE IT.

I think it will register until I get into uncharted numbers like, under 210. I haven't been that weight for YEARS!

But for now, hmpf, still don't believe it.

Paulaax, WOW, your doing so great! I am not banded yet, I'm going to my first seminar on 11/11 and I'm so excited. I am doing the entire thing in secret from everyone that is close to me, except I will be telling my DH (when the time is right). I think one reason I don't want to tell anyone is I wonder "will this really work for me?". I've been on so many diets, and yes, lost a lot of weight, only to gain it back again. Your loss has really inspired me and has made a believer out of me!

jojo, don't think about what could go wrong, if you keep thinking about the wrongs, then it may happen. Think postive.

Revisiting my post again. It is Jan 15 and I weigh 228. Booked for a fill in one week today.

Meh, still don't believe it.

First I said to myself that I will believe it when I get into the 230's, then I said I'd believe it when I get into the 220's. Now that I am there, I WILL REALLY BELIVE IT WHEN I GET INTO THE 210's PROMISE.

I weighed 211 in the mid 80's, and joined WW. After I sat down the lady came and asked me to weight again. Sure enough I weighed 211. She just couldn't believe it. I said, "Well, that's why I am here!" So that is my memory of the 210's.

So I will wait for that.

Heading up to another fill in a week. After a fill, I can more easily drop another 10 pounds. That seems to be my pattern thus far.

Any other doubing Thomasinas? Strange mindset this is....

hugs to all

Here I am, Paulax, still relating to you! Now, I'm wearing some size 16's, and still find it miraculous. Isn't it funny? And fun? LOL!

The ability to change our view of ourselves is just one (big) reason I am always preaching "patience". Even though we're in a hurry to lose the weight, I think our mindsets need time to change, and we're better off we give ourselves the time.

You are just doing great...be careful with the fills, and don't over-do it...you know what I mean, right?

Good luck!

Hugs!

Cindy

Hi Everyone:

I am soon to have the Lapband in February, 2007. I am a little nervous, only because I have tried other things before, and this is kind of my last chance... I am staying positive, yet still reluctant.

Any words of wisdom?

Thanks talk soon.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
