Hi All!

I am just over 3 weeks out and cannot believe that my incisions from the surgery have not healed yet!! Can someone tell me how long it took for theirs to heal?

The biggest one....on the left where the stomach was pulled out....seems like it is never going to not have a scab on it and the others are slowly.....and it really does seems slower than normal.... healing. Is this normal? When is it just a scar and not a scab anymore?

How long before the scars fade....mine are still very dark.....

Thanks!

Will be 8 weeks out on Monday. I have a little scab on one, because there is still a real stitch in there and it's too low to get out and I just have to wait for it to work out.

A few of the other incisions have clear stitches sticking out...enough to interfere with my underwear (it pokes through). If you rub your hand across my belly and incisions the clear, supposedly dissolvable stitches, scrape me.

It will heal, just give it some time.

I'll be two months out on Sunday. My last one has finally begun to close. I know how you feel. EVERYTIME I thought it was scanning over, I would get in the shower and when I got out and the scan was gone. I had to start the healing process over again. As weird as it sounds, this is just your bodies way of healing. Let it do what it does naturally. An this might be weird too, but try swimming in a chlorine filled pool. For me it boosted the process and sort of dried the wound up! Lol

I'm 9 days post op. My incisions are almost fully heeled. My biggest incision where the stomach as pulled out heeled the fastest. The scabs are almost non existent. I suppose everyone's heeling process varies.

I'm 6 weeks out and my biggest one finally healed. That incision wasn't fully closed after I took off the steri strips and left a hole so it took a while to close up. I learned though that even though my skin had healed I still had the soreness inside.

It will take longer than you are use to. Remember you are not getting all the nutrition your body is use to. The amount of nutrients your body can put toward healing is therefore limited.

I am six wks out and my big incision is still very raw. It opened completely. My regular doctor put me on antibiotics. But still taking forever to heal! He told me to leave open, but it is scary to leave it like that. Glad to hear it took others over 2 months to heal. Tired of spending more money on this...

At my biggest incision in my belly button where they pulled the stomach out the doc must have nicked a small vessel...I had a ginormous bruise ....a month later and it is finally starting to fade...so hideous! My incisions are all closed little slits. Overall I think they will fade nicely. I have been purring bio oil on them.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
