At this point, I think you are just going to have to give it time. I know, not the answer you want to hear. A lot of people have little to no pain issues. You are like me where you are having a ton of it. I truly know how you feel! I called my doctor's office in tears 3 1/2 weeks out because I was in so much pain. "Magically" on the day of the anniversary of my 4th week, I woke up pain free and have been ever since. I felt like such a baby for having so much pain with VSG. I'd been told by more than one doctor in the past that I had a high tolerance for pain and this surgery made me feel like a weenie! Do you still have prescription pain meds? If so, use them. If not, call your doctor and get some more. You should not have to live in pain and the pain meds help.

Hang in there dear! I know this is rough and it feels like it will never get better. I promise it will though in time. If you need someone to talk to in real time who understands, send me a pm with your phone number and I'll be happy to call you. I know how defeating this can feel right now!

When you go back to work, please wear a Spanx like compression garment. The intense pain I called my doctor crying about 3 weeks out was after I went back to work. I was told its not uncommon for pain to increase after going back to work due to the increased activity. The Spanx like compression garment helped me tons. Keep me posted.

I have a long history of pain management stuff. If you don't have instructions for ibuprofen, ask your doctor if you can take that. For me, Tylenol does not address this kind of pain. Doctor ordered 600-800mg four times a day. (I'm newly sleeved on 7/25.) I am the same with headaches. Tylenol just doesn't work for me.

I have the same pain...if I am not wearing a girdle I have to hold my right side becuz even the slight touch of anything bothers that area .., I will be 5 weeks on Wed and it's getting better LITTLE BY LITTLE!!!! I will tell you when mine goes away.. I hope I wake up and the pain is gone!!!! It's not a major pain....just uncomfortable, numbness and tenderness... The pain comes when I bend or try to get up from the recliner

I had a similar pain days after surgery, even after a year out the main incision itches like a mother$#%^ lol. Then all of a sudden it rains. People say this is normal. But idk.

I feel hopeful that's it will subside, my pain is where I'm guessing the main incision was placed , definite tugging/pulling feeling when I get up and even when I sit in an upright position. I can't wait to be able to feel normal again!

I was sleeved 15 days ago and my main incision pain is worse now I vacuumed and washed the floor I was wondering when it should go away or maybe I hurt internal stitches

I had really bad pain in my right incision. When I left the hospital it looked like my surgeon had tried to sew a button on my belly, it was all pulled in an hurt terribly when I stood up especially. I am coming up on four weeks post op. Last week it was hurting so bad one day and the next day it was much better. Now it is just really tender. I think as the swelling goes down and healing continues it gets tender to the touch but you dont have that burning feeling anymore. Hang in there, it DOES get better. And by the way it is not all pulled in anymore either.

I literally thought I was the only one with a “second belly button” and so much pain there.

I was sleeved 5 days ago. I have been careful not to lift anything but I made the mistake of leaning over and pushing something out of my way. I pulled some internal stitches or the muscle in my main incision. I didn't have any pain before that but I sure do now.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
