I joined Weight Watchers today...

Recommended Posts

It has been 9.5 months since I had my band removed. I have gained 4 lbs back in that time. Each day is getting harder and harder for me so today I joined weight watchers. I need the accountability of weighing in every week with a real live person, it seems to motivate me and keep me on track. It is only 12.00 a week and to me that is minimal if I can lose a lb here and there or maintain this weght loss I had from my band. It is actually a good program and I know of several who are having great success with it. This is one program I never tried in the past ( tried every other diet) I feel doing WW with 90% of the weight lost with my band I can get to my goal weight of 150. with out my band Had I done only WW to lose all of my weight I know I would of quit since I had over 100 lbs to lose, but since I only have 28 to get to my 150 goal I feel very possitive I can do it with the help of WW. Iam allowed 24 points a day, so far today I have eaten 3 egg whites and 1 piece of dry wheat toast to equal 3 points. for a snack I ate a bananna to equal 2 points I have 19 points left for the rest of the day, point tracking is easy, I always thought it would be a pain in the butt , I was wrong

Wish me luck

i DO wish you lots of luck!!! my mom does LA weightloss and likes it. i definitally think 28 lbs is a lot more do-able than 128!

i joined WW when i was like 12, my mom got me the 'lifetime membership'. i havent gone since i was 13, it was 40 miles from home and a hassle to get to.

Good luck to you, LA Madam! WW works as well as anything, if you work it. And I know lots of people who find great success with it. Here's hoping you do too!

That's what I call taking control of a situation, one of which controlled you (us) in the past, that's what led to the band in the first place, WTG!

Gee, if we could all use that self control when the gain is 4 lbs instead of 40.

Hugs!

From my experience, WW is easily adaptable in the out-side world. I wish you a success with it... easier to lose 5, 10 pounds then 100!

Weight watchers is a smart way to go - they have the highest success rate of any diet program out there I've always liked that they encourage folks to eat real food and all types of food - just to watch the portions

- congrats on keeping your weight in check without that band - you must be doing something right! you are wise to do something before 4 turns to 40.... good luck to you.

I also know that applebees has a weightwatchers section on the menu, they have the point totals all printed and broken down for you. ~Mandy

Good for you, Michelle! I've got the lifetime Jenny Craig card lol, but haven't used it. Depending on how this slipped band turns out, perhaps I'll drop by there.

I can completely understand needing the accountability. When I was doing weekly dr visits, I never once gained. Soon as I slacked on that, I hit a plateau and even added a few kgs.

Michelle, just make sure you are getting enough Protein. I'm happy that you have made this decision and I just know it will work for you. My MIL lost 45 or 50 pounds on WW, she actually had to increase her points because she was 5 pounds under her goal. It took her about a year, but she still counts points, that's how I know about applebees offering the points on several of their dishes, she loves going there. ~Mandy

i personally suck at WW... must be some rebellion from having gone in my childhood...i tend to eat more! for me, limiting sugar and carbs is what is helping a lot with maintenance and sloooooow weight loss...

but sooo many people are successful, and that's something.

and I bless my band for giving me a good 50 pound start... going into a diet program such as WWneeding to lose 80-90 pounds would have been an invite to fail... The boost the band gave me made the misery of the slippage (almost) worth it.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
