Need Sleeve Buddies (Vsg 7/18)

Recommended Posts

Looking for a friend or two scheduled within a day or two of me that I can keep in close contact with about their experience so I do not feel so alone! Anyone else looking for a buddy? I am 209 lbs, 5' 4" (if this matters)

Good luck to you all that have your surgeries just around the corner. Are any of you with Kaiser? I have my pre-op on Aug 6th with Dr. Zane. How long after this meeting was your surgery scheduled for? Also, My Kaiser group has a face book page called Skinnycow mob 126. If you guys want to like that page you can give us pointers and motivation too.

How exciting your about to take the next step to improve your quality of life.

After the consult it is usually within 4 weeks...a friend of mine was scheduled within 2 weeks ...it depends on the doctors schedule

I'm scheduled for the 18th as well. Anxiety is buiding. It's been a 1 1/2 year journey from intial info session to now. I'm as ready as I'm ever going to be, but that doesn't keep the anxiety in check. Thank God for xanax.

My surgery is the 1st.

I have been drinking the Premier brand Protein shakes from Sam's Club. They come in vanilla and chocolate, 30 grams of Protein and only 1 gram of sugar. They taste very sweet and are great! I am also drinking Campbell's chicken broth with a 1/2 scoop chicken flavored unjury Protein powder. Unjury chicken Protein Powder is delicious! I also have sugar free popsicles, fruit 2 O waters and sugar free Jello. I just keep drinking the sugar free flavored waters if I still feel cravings. After the first 3 days it seemed to get easier. I am on day 9 and I feel pretty good and I'm down 11 pounds!

Thanks so much for the advice. I'm headed to costco on thursday to get the Premier Protein shakes, they were also recommended to me. Any flavor better then another? Good luck with your surgery and keep me posted on your progress please, I'd love to hear about it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
