Massachusetts Bandsters Chat

Hey fellow MA bandsters,

SherryW and I are interested in starting a thread for all our MA bandsters so we can get to know our neighbors! We hope you join in!

I'll start.....

My name is Chris, I am 32, have been overweight since I was 5 years old, although I am at an all-time high right now. My band date is October 2nd, and I cannot wait!! I am single and dating, I work in insurance, and I have a great and supportive family & group of friends - including SherryW and her DH. lol. Oh yeah, my mother is also getting banded, and she is having surgery one week before me.

I'd love to meet my other MA bandsters and hear about your progress!

Chris

  • Hey Liz: Congratulations on being banded. I was banded 9 months ago. I love, love, love my band. I do think that exercising in addition to eating like a bandster is the key to my success so far.

  • Hi Liz, welcome to band land, not to worry, the motivation will come when it's time. If you are like me, right now you are adjusting to the whole idea of the thing and trying to get hold of the food p

By this time you're banded dreaminbig! Congratulations!!!!

Hey AAA

How did the tummy tuck go? would you mind sharing your experience. I hope to some day lose enough weight to have to have one too;)

I assume ins doesn't cover something like that? Would you mind sharing approx cost.

Hi threebeauties

Tummy tuck was exactly what I expected. I had a difficult first week with the pain, but it really does get better day by day. I am still a little sore, and it is still hard to sleep at times. I can't say for sure what I will end up looking like because I am still swollen and also I must still wear this binder. I did go out last night and treated myself to a couple of hours without it. Its a nice feeling to wear a size 8 jeans and they were on the loose side ! It made all this hard work worth it !!!

Insurance did deny me. total cost was $6700. My band was paid for by insurance, so I can't complain. Feel free to ask any more questions and good luck with your journey !!!

HEY I'M BACK!

I MADE IT THROUGH THE SURGERY, BUT I AL MOST DIDNT HAVE IT ONE OF THE GIRLS WHO SCHELDULED ME DID IT FOR 9:00AM AND I HAD A PAPER FOR 12:45PM BIG MISTAKE!! NEEDLESS TO SAY DR SCHNEIDER WAS PISSED. BUT THEY CALLED ME AT 9:00AM AND TOLD ME TO COME IN ANYWAY. SO I ACTUALLY HAD IT DONE AT 11:00 AM. IM DOING OK AND I GUESS THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS NOW. IM ON THE LOSING SIDE NOW:clap2: ITS GREAT FEELING A LITTLE BETTER SO TTHAT I COULD LET YOU GUYS KNOW HOW I WAS DOING.WELL I HAVE TO GO SO ILL WRITE LATER

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT!!

aaamom - congrats on your tummy tuck! Glad your feeling better! I can't wait to see some pics of that little middle!

dreaminbig - welcome home and congrats on your new band!! Can't believe that mix up! I would have been pissed too if I was the doc, but it wasn't your fault. They've had some changeover in personnel there - and I'm sure some heads rolled for that one! Keep us updated on your progress.

hi north shore gang! how about meeting for lunch on sat dec 2nd at 1 pm at the dockside? let me know if that would work. we can meet, chat and shop for smaller clothes for the holidays!

:) Hi all,

I am in the process of getting approval to have the band. I have the nutritionist evaluation and 1 support group meeting left before they will submit me to the insurance (Tufts) . I am hoping to have it done at Winchester/Stoneham Hospital ( afraid to drive in Boston). Anyone else have it done at Winchester?

I will update you when information comes my way. Thanks for all the great information.:o

Hey Wendyjoy, I had mine done the Monday before thanksgiving (11/20) at Winchester hospital. Who is your surgeon? Mine was Darius Ameri....THe hospital is great, they were all so nice and caringl...I had a great experience there....If you ever wanna chat send me a pm....

Hi from western mass! I was banded on December 8th and am on protein drink mode. my start weight was 248 (pre-dietician), 226 (final appointment) and I am down to 213 now! I want to know how long it takes for the port pain to go away? also... how do i get one of those litle tickers to show up here?

hi momof2chic,

I WAS BANDED ON 11/08 IT TOOK ALMOST 1 MONTH FOR MY PORT PAIN TO GO AWAY! BUT EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. CONGRADS ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS YOUR DOING EXCELLENT. I AM DOWN TO 202 FROM 246 ORIGINALLY DAY BEFORE SURGERY-229 IT FEELS GREAT! THE LAST TIME I WAS DOWN AT THIS WEIGHT WAS SEVEN YEARS AGO BEFORE I HAD MY SON.! I HAVEN'T HAD A FILL YET SO I'M KINDA NERVOUS ABOUT THAT . I'M NOT SURE HOW TO GET THE TICKERS I'VE HAD TROUBLE GETTING ONE ON MINE SO I GAVE UP.

I honestly had port pain for months after surgery. I actually started to think that it might always feel that way - but it did go away. Now, it hurts every once in a while (after sit-ups, etc) but not bad at all.

Bostongurl I saw your pics posted on the Before & After thread. You're looking great!! You should be really proud.

Any advice you can offer? I see that you only have a 1cc fill, so I know that you have been doing most of the work yourself. You should feel even more proud about that!
