Phase 2 Question: Dr. Kim

Recommended Posts

Those of you who have had ypur surgery done by Dr. David Kim in Dallas...I have a question for yall.

I am a bit confused as to when I can start the phase 3-puréed Protein diet. I have completed the phase one-Clear liquids (one week) and I am on my phase 2-full liquids. I was under the impression that this phase only lasts 2 weeks (the book he gave us is very confusing). I started it on June 25th and thoughttttt I was going to end it on Monday the 9th. But I just spoke with the nurse and she said it should be 3 weeks. Can anyone tell me what they are doing or did? I may just have to call back up there. They prolly think I am the crazy lady that doesn't get it ( I will just blame it on the lack of food...haha).

Thankssss!

Hey~ the nurse I saw when I got my staples out said the 2nd phase is for week 2 and 3, so I start phase 3 on this Monday. [My surgery was June 18th]

See that's what I thought! The book says on page 31 that it is weeks 2-3 both at the top and in the gray box on the side. But if you read a little further down it says in bold that this phase should last 3 weeks after phase 1 is tolerated.

I had my surgery the 18th as well. I think the nurse wasn't sure what she was talking about and then i confused her. I was so excited to start phase 3 Monday but now I just don't know what to do!

@singlemama ... I remember chatting with you the day we got our staples out! So good to see a familiar face on here! They sent me straight to the ER because I was having pain in my arm. It turns out that I had a blood clot from my wrist to my elbow. I just got out of the hospital Saturday. It has been crazy!

Oh my gosh! That is crazy! You're okay now though? Do you live over here? If so, we should keep up with each other and kinda have our own little support thing going on. I don't think you're much younger than me. I'm barely 23. Haha.

It was totally unexpected! The blood clot came from an IV site in my hand. We should totally get together...and go grab a Water or something...haha. I live in Hurst. I am 23 as well so we can totally relate! I was thinking about going to the group support meeting. I think it's on the 11th of this month. Are you going?

Oh my gosh that's scary, because that next day the site where my IV was swelled up, like bad. It only hurt when I touched it, and I applied ice at work for hours it seemed. It went down and bruised for the first time. It's still bruised but no longer hurting. And I think I will go. I hadn't even thought about it. Where is it at?

Yea the nurses kept brushing me off when I told them they need to move the IV. My hand doubled in size where I couldn't bend my fingers. They finally moved it when I showed them that the hospital bracelets were majorly indenting into my skin.

I think it is just a block or so away from his office. I have the paper somewhere...I will look for it. Message me your cell number and I'll text ya the info when I can!

I am out of country and accidently left my phase and sample menu book. Is it possible to get an email copy of it sent to me at glsouth@caribsurf.com ?

I'm sure if you called dr Kim's office they already have it electronically so they could send it. I only have a scanner at work and it's for business only. Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
