I travel a lot for work and won't be taking much time off for surgery. I am having surgery on saturday, august 18th with dr. Alvarez. How soon afterwards will I be able to travel for work (I'll be flying home from Texas on the 21st but may have to travel later that week for work)? I know it is pretty individual but would appreciate your experiences.

Thanks!!

You should be able to travel with no problem, however, you have to remember that you have a weight lifting restriction! I had to change computer cases and also make sure my suitcase was XTRA light during travel! You can easily take your Protein Shake supplies and Protein Bars with you.

HAHAHA....I did my expenses this week too! WOW....what a difference! Instead of trying to find the best place in town to eat I'm stearing clear and eating 1 taco, or 1 hamburger minus the bun!!!

Thanks for the information! I imagine I'll be saving my company a lot if money too once I'm post-op. I'm going to pull out my rolling computer bag instead of my tote and probably check my luggage.

I have to say I am getting worried. I get my sleeve on July 11 and then on August 18 I head to Singapore for 10 days. I really hope I can eat regular food by then. There is no way to pack enough pre-mixed shakes.< /p>

Protein bars are my new best friend! You should be able to order a lot of Soups, and should be able to eat softer meats by then like chicken. Just order as normal, tell your work associates that you ate a late Breakfast or that you areant too hungry and will take the leftovers back to your room for later. Works for me....

I also went to GNC and found single serving packets of protein that were IDEAL for traveling. I'll warn you now that they were NASTY!!! I think Ungery offers a sampler pack and maybe chicke. I would check into it for sure! Dont forget to pack your vitamins!

Unjury.com has fantastic chicken broth! Their other Proteins or ok....nothing to brag about. I just ordered some same bars / proten / nectar from MYBARIATRICPANTRY.COM

Will know in a few days if I like them. I've been getting the BODY FORTRESSWHEY ISOLATE from Walmart but I can barley choke it down now in my morning coffee.....and it's the best I've found.

I will drag along some packets for emergencies, along with a bunch of protein bars. It will be tough if I am still on mushies. I see lots of Soups in my future. I checked Singapore Airlines and they have a soft meal option for business class. That is important since it is an 18 - hour non-stop flight.

Scrambled eggs should be easy for breakfast. Business dinners and receptions will be really tough. Eating and drinking are at the center of an awful lot of business in Asia. This will be ugly, but I have to get this done.

@BizTraveller- I work with many, many Asian clients and do lots of dinner/drinks with them and have been successful sticking to Protein elements and avoiding the alcohol durring business interactions.

You are cutting it close with your dates to consume somewhat odd foods, but I suspect that a go-getter like yourself will be able to push though it. and FWIW- my experience with Singapore food is that there is a lot more fimiliar foods than unfimiliar.

I started traveling for work 2 weeks post-op and did fine. I always travel with the "sample packets" from nectar and a large supply of Protein Bars.

have fun!

Thanks for the confidence. I wish I had another month. Singapore is an old friend and one of the best food cities in the world. It is going be strange hunkered down in the hotel with Protein Shakes. September will bring two trips to London and one to Spain. I hope I heal fast.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
