Can't Stomach The Bariatric Advantage Chewable Vitamins

Recommended Posts

I was in to see the doc last week for my one week post op and he told me that I could go ahead and start supplements. So Saturday I took my first set of Multivitamins about 45 minutes after finishing my Protein Shake for Breakfast and within 2 minutes, they came right back up. I hate chewable vitamins to begin with and can't believe I wasted my money on these things that I will never take. I need to find something else that agrees with me. Can anyone give me an idea of what they are taking on a daily basis, so I can get my vitamin/supplement regimen in order. Before surgery, I took the Gummy vites for adults and was wondering if people were taking those too?

I switched to gummy vitamins because I could not stomach the chewables. I wasn't taking my Vitamins because I hated them so much. Decided it was better to take something even if it isn't as good than nothing at all. My doctor agreed. I currently take Vitafusion Multi Vites Gummy Vitamins from Sam's Club, 4 daily. I love these!

you can even get smaller bottles at Walmart for under 5 bucks, but cost to quantity ratio comes out cheaper at sams.

Yup. I bought the bariatric ones too, they are pretty awful. I asked my surgeon and nut they both said the gummy vitamins are fine. You can get the anywhere and they're pretty cheap.

Great idea the Gummy vits. I am currently taking the chewable multi-Vitamin per my NUT's request. I gag it down twice a day.

Thank you for the tip!

My NUT said no to the gummies because they don't have all the Vitamins needed. She recommends the bariatric chewables (which are okay for me) but also said Centrum or flintstones chewables are better than the gummies. I was kinda bummed because I did the gummies pre-op and liked them.

I too had the same trouble with Bariatric Advantage. I spend a lot of money making sure that I got exactly what was recommended, only to get sick every time I tried to take my meds. I called my drs office and told them what was happening. They recommended the gummie vits, but for the Calcium you can get the kirkland brand at costco which is 500mg instead of 250mg of the BA, plus taking 3 is better than 6. These calcium also have the right amount of vit D3 (if you take the 1500mg of calcuim) which also eliminates another pill to try and take. Now I'm keeping them all down and feeling so much better...

OH, AREN'T THOSE ABOUT THE WORST THING YOU'VE EVER PUT IN YOUR MOUTH???!!! I still feel like yakking just thinking about those things!! BLECH!! I gave them away. I ended up with some prenatal chewables to see me through until I could swallow something like normal.

They are awful!!

I tried them pre op and it wasn't horrible, but I tried them post opnot pretty.

I take gummies all the way!

I take Gummy Calcium, gummy Vitamin D, gummy Multivitamin. It's actually tasty, I look forward to my " gummy treats" Ha

So glad they made them. I get mine at Target, they are pretty cheap, and then I get reimbursed from my FSA too!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
