Taking Biotin. Greasy Hair?

Recommended Posts

Had surgery 4-24-12 and down 65 pounds.

Any who's. Ive been taking Biotin regularly for the two months since surgery. About two weeks ago I noticed my hair was really greasy no matter how much or little I washed it or what I washed it with. About a week ago I stopped taking the Biotin and just today my hair seems to be coming more back to normal...

Do you think it was the biotin? I read online that biotin can cause acne...

Thanks

Congrats on your weight loss! I've been taking Biotin for a few months now and haven't noticed a change. Did you change anything else, like Shampoo or styling product?

I can tell you something that helps, regardless of the cause. Dousche your hair occasionally! By this I mean wash your hair with your regular Shampoo, rinse it out, pour a 32oz cup of vinegar and Water (equal parts) over your hair and scalp (don't get into eyes), rinse this out a little, wash with shampoo again then use your conditioner as normal. It gets any build up off and makes your hair feel good. I only do it about once every 2-3 months. But I don't use any styling products.

I'm on Biotin regularly and haven't noticed anything like that; in fact, since surgery, my hair seems a bit drier than before. Maybe it's the hot weather? I know in the past my scalp has been a lot sweatier in the summer... and I wash my hair every day and use just a little conditioner on the ends. And HI MGM--nice to see you! Change in hormones combined with hotter weather is my guess (I am a licensed barber)...you need a good clarifying Shampoo added to your routine. Shampoo twice. Clarifying then Ur normal stuff then condition. Did u know that shampoo is designed to need to be used twice?? The first time it's applied it attaches to the dirt and debris and pulls it out when u rinse and the second time it actually cleanses because there isn't much dirt or debris getting in the way.

I have been taking Biotin since 4 weeks post op and my hair was really dry in the beginning. At around 6.5 months my hair started growing back and I stopped losing my hair too. Now, at 8 months my hair does get oily the next day. I use really expensive Shampoo and I really don't want to wash my hair twice so I'm happy with the way it's going now. My hair is growing really really fast too. Yayyyy!

I take my Biotin daily. 10,000mcg. It works great. :) I also take silica too.

I didn't know that but I don't doubt you at all because I ALWAYS have to wash my hair twice! First time it isn't clean enough and the 2nd wash its perfectly clean!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
