Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals

Recommended Posts

Don't despair Wheezy.

I know a lot of people say it can take a few days (weeks even?) for a fill to take effect. Personally...(don't kill me people, this is MY opinion!)...I think that is a load of crap!!! LOL. I mean...physiologically speaking...how is that possible? Anyways....that is what some say.

But, what I DO Know is that the vast vast majority of people do not hit the proper level of restriction on their first fill ...or even their second. That is just the way it is...and lets face it; that is what this is all about right? Finding the "sweet spot"? It ain't gonna happen right away. We've gotta sneak up on it....which I also believe is a good thing.

I hear ya...it sucks when you live far away and have to travel for the fill a few times ....I complain about it and I'm only 2 hrs away. But, bottom line....I'm still happy that we have to do it that way....I do believe it is better in the long run and helps us change our habits etc and helps us get to the sweet spot slowly but gradually we WILL get there.

Am I there? I don't think so but I know I will be eventually.

Very verbose way of merely saying...yup, you'll need another fill (or more) but that is the name of the game.

BTW, Wheezy....I think you are doing great!!

I dunno Yoda.... it took me a few days before I could BARELY eat... and then a few weeks before I could finally eat more.

It doesn't really make sense. I can see having WAY more restriction at first, perhaps from irritation or inital swelling, but yeah, I don't see how you can feel nothing, and then it 'kicks in' after days or weeks.

I agree mandi...I can understand feeling really tight right away (which is why they make you drink before you leave)....and then it "loosening". What I don't think makes sense (I believe my words were "full of crap"!) lol....is that you can get it and feel zippo restriction and then several days later it "kicks in".

So let me throw out another wrench........how come I have days that Breakfast is a half bowl Cereal, then it take me both lunch and dinner to finish one sandwich. Then a few days later I can finish the bowl for breakfast, eat a whole sandwich for lunch, eat a full plate of food for dinner, and force myself to bed a nine so I dont go look for more food.?????????I DONT GET IT!!!!!I think the day of my surgery they said, "heres a crazy person, lets give her the whacked out band"??

,desparately seeking sweet spot.

Once you hit the perfect fill then what ? Does it stay thatway until your body decides it needs more ? Does the band loosen ?

Thanks so much

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement but I think I have it figured out. I will call it Wheezy's Anatomy. Dr McMumford is really in love with me and he actually didn't fill my band at all in the hope that I would return soon so that he can get another glimpse of my perfectly rounded abdomen and my voluptuous everything. He secretly loves the scar he gave me while it puckers when I laugh. I'm on to him!!!! I will have to break it to him though that I have my very own Mr McWheezy at home. I hope he takes well. :unlove:

YOU FLOOZY, HE'S MINE! MINE I SAY!

Neenagh, you will see. You will go for your first fill and it will work (lucky you). It will prove who's heart he really wants.

hehe

That ain't no wrench,....unfortunately! I too have that; even with restriction. Everything I've read says the same thing; that it boils down to the fact that the band is "fickle". Even ppl who have reached their sweet spot still have that going on.

MY opinion....it is just the body adjusting every so often and so there are minor fluctuations. And, I can even understand (& accept that). It does suck though!

Don't worry Wheezy....fill #2 or #3 will get ya there....likely.

Neenaugh and Wheezy, quit your fighting:argue: !!! I gotta see this doc, you've got my curiosity going.

Ya my band is fickle indeed, but just thank God it's there. I know, I would be right back to my old tricks of eating if it were to go away. It's funny, because I would have thought that the urge to eat and binge would go away after a while. It has decreased alot, but it's still there rearing it's ugly head now and then. Do you guys think it will go away for good, eventually???

Anyway, made an appointment for next Friday for a teeny fill. I would like a teeny bit more restriction but I would really like to feel full LONGER!!! We'll see what happens.......Oh, and I wanna check out this doc the girls are fighting over...lol.

Green is getting her first fill next Tuesday. I think I need it. I am just through mushie land and my big appetite is back! I am thinking of doing a bloody steak before the fill. My mate has some in the freezer.

Do you feel any different in the way you deal with food. Do you actually feel less like eating?

All the best on the fill !

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
