It's been excellent. I had some complications and was very well cared for. Dr. Hollis went as far as giving me his personal cell phone to keep in contact after hours. He is a very caring physician with great bedside manner. His pa Beth is nice but doesn't think outside the box well. She is however very responsive and enthusiastic.

I too am from Houston area. Dr Hollis did my lapband back in 2010. I have had several complications and he said I needed to be revised to the sleeve. My insurance will cover but Beth said since my BMI less than 40 now she won't send to my insurance so off to Mexico I go! I will be sleeved on May 31st.

For insurance purposes, your BMI pre band is typically what decisions are based on.

Correct. But I was told to come back when I 30# heavier or self pay at full price.

Im from south texas, Mcallen tx! my surgery is now on May 20th and Im super nervous, but I know I will not regret this. Just praying for a healthy, no complication post op life! I still have a lot of questions on my diets post op. I meet with my surgeon again on May 3rd. I am also very nervous about the 2 week pre op clear liquid diet...how did everyone get through this?

Keel in mind your goals, and why you are doing this. Educate yourself as much as possible. Once you are in the hospital, they give u a nice little cocktail to make you feel drunk, and then it's hazy after that. The pain isn't too bad.. Walk, walk, walk is what I suggest. Whenever I had pain, I walked. And it helped soooo much!! It was the first surgery I ever had in my life, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.. I had an amazing experience. Pray, read, talk about it.. Do whatever makes you have a peaceful heart and mind. I'll be praying for you friend :)

I didn't have that. I had 6 days of liquids (didn't have to be clear) and the day before surgery (day 7) they had to be clear. Then I was on Clear Liquids for a week post op.

I wondered that too. We need more activity! How're you? I'm doing great, three weeks post op so far and over 50 down since starting pre op diet.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
