Drinks Out? What Are The Best Choices?

Recommended Posts

I have some social events this summer and looking for some good choices for drinks. I tried beer about a month ago and it was too carbonated for me. I am almost 4 months post-op. Thanks!

Red or white wine would work for me. Watch those hidden calories though!

I like jack and coke zero. Lots of ice to take the carbonation out. Only 65 calories in a shot.

I like

Absolut citron w/lemonade

Grey goose w/cranberry(even the light cran is tolerable)

Dissarono straight up

Crown Royal or Pendalton with a packet of Splenda & a squeeze of lime & plenty of ice ( I prefer pendleton but most places don't have it)

Vodka and cranberry or sangria those are my two go to drinks. I've not really drank more than 1 or 2 at a time.

I have seen a lot of places have a skinny margaritas now and I get those often. Some are sugar free some are made with a small amount of agave nectar but they are low calorie.

I wasn't cleared to drink until I was 6 months out. I started out with sweeter, non-acid drinks because my tummy was still a little sensitive. I liked Cranberry and Cointreau and port wines. Not low calorie, but since I only had one or two, no big deal. I'm back to regular now, and drink anything I want.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
