So I just tried my very first Protein Drink. Syntrax Nectar Lattes, Cappuccino. I usually have an iced coffee every morning and was hoping it would be a decent substitue. The website I bought the sample from gave it five stars by at least sixty people. I barely kept it down. I know it was only one flavor but it was the chalky taste that got to me. My surgery is scheduled for 7/2 and I am thinking how am I going to do this for the rest of my life. Am I just being dramatic?

Not being dramatic... just have to find one you can drink. I was petrified of shakes cause I was never able to drink any I tried in the past. However I did Atkins pre-op and then "tested" the Atkins RTD in the grocery store. I actually did like the dark chocolate royale. It kept me feeling "full" for like 3 hrs ( which seemed like a miracle) b4 sleeve cause normally I was hungry 24/7.

While this might not be the shake 4 u... you can keep trying until you find one that works. The powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup got lots of +++++++ feedback on the forums but like you commented "I could barely keep it down."

I recommend searching forum for "ideas" and testing several. One person drinks Oh Yeah...I tried it. While it is ok, it tasted a little sweet to me. I only sipped and might try it w/ ice blended to make it colder and lighten it a little??

I stuck w/ Atkins when I liked it so haven't tried too many. My Friend likes the the Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel and mixes w/ 1/2 OJ and 1/2 Water.

Yes, you really have to try quite a few to find what works for you! A lot of people like the Premier Protein ready to drink product (30g Protein per serving). I have been able to drink these all along (I am six month post-op). I would try to find them in small quantities at the grocery store or perhaps a supplement store to try before buying too many, but if they work for you you can get them in chocolate and vanilla and costco.

I used to hate the vanilla, but saw that they have a new formula and so I bought some yesterday. Much better, less chalky.

There is a powdered product by Cytosport that is sold in chocolate and vanilla at costco. It comes in a bag and has 27 grams of protein per scoop, and it blends very well with coffee.

I used to drink the unjury but got tired of it. It was great for a while, but I would just caution against overbuying any one product. This stuff is not cheap, and our tastes change with time!

Good luck finding what will work for you. It is out there!

Protein drinks are very tricky. It's really a trial and error process. A lot of people love the RTD's but I find that they have a chemical taste. So I stick with powders. I personally like About Time because they use very few ingredients and high quality whey Protein. I've decided to just stick with the chocolate, vanilla and unflavored ones and then dress them up with syrups. I've got six different Tarani sugar free syrups and they help with the taste quite a bit. I just got brown sugar and cinnamon so I'm really anxious to try that one!

Good luck!

ETA - Have you checked out the protein thread? There's a post that has a bunch of links to sites that let you order samples of different brands. That might be a good way to go. You can also buy individual RTD's at GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
