Has Anyone Here Had Dr.yu As Their Surgeon?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I'm new to this forum & getting sleeved on the 13th using the spider. Was curious if anyone else has either used the spider or Dr.Yu? I'm getting very nervous & any advice would be highly appreciated! Thanks! :)

Oooh! I thought it was the single incision thing-a-ma-bob. Super col to find a local having the same surgery on the same day!!!!

I'm using Dr. Waggoner in Cypress. if you do a surgeon search on this sight it will tell you how many patients are on here with that surgeon.

Good luck to you and keep in touch! We can compare notes! haha

I live in Cypress too, and my doctor is also Dr. Yu, and he'll be using the spider, but I don't have a date yet.::sad::

Let me know how everything goes! Where is your surgery scheduled? I'm a little afraid, what about you?

I am not only afraid. I am petrified because this will be my first surgery ever. I am getting sleeved at the new hospital on Huffmeister and 290. I call my doc McDreamy. lol. He is a cutie in person unlike his very realtor looking pic on his website. hahaha

I know the place, lol! I've had two laparoscopic surgeries and went back to work in two weeks (I'm a nurse), but everyone keeps saying this surgery is like no other, so I'm afraid. I'm sure we'll both be fine, it's just the fear of the unknown. Let me know if you need anything, I'll be glad to help.

Thank you so much and the same for you!!! I think the fear of the unknown is definitely working against me! We will be fine and then FINE!! I'm so glad there's a local to help each other get through!!!

I am having the sleeve surgery, but probably not the spider. I am a lap band revision and he did not say anything about that. I am sure that spider is people who have not had lap bands. I am using Dr. Yu too. Park plaza hosp on July 10th. Good luck to everyone. I will be following your progress and will post mine when I have any. The TLC website has a you tube video site about Dr. Yu and the spider. It looks great because it is one incision in the belly button instead of 5-6 small ones. Possibliity of no scars which is really nice for younger girls who might like to show off their bellies in a bikini after wt loss and a Tummy Tuck. I will not be worried about that at my age, don't think I will be showing my bare belly in this life. LOL I would have if I were 20 yrs younger. The spider would also be nice because there will be only incisions to heal ,and should less pain.

Bmooney,

I've had two previous laparoscopic procedures, so I have a total of 9 poke holes in my belly. No one wants to see this belly that looks like it's been shot 9 times, lol. I'm excited about the spider because I hope it can shorten my recovery. I'll be looking for you to let us know how everything goes next month. Good Luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
