I have a 6 year old and his treat on Friday when I take him to school is that he gets donuts from the shop down the street...he loves donut holes...and they are my weakness...so I steal one...and eat it in like 6 bites..never all at once...and it kills my sugar needs until the next week...I by no means am telling you to have one...cause honestly I don't think you could even eat one...they are soooooo sugary that I can't think of eating more than 1 donut hole...I do pretty good at getting all my Protein and Water in so I don't think 1 hole once a week will kill me.

Just think of my situation/problem. I'm retired law enforcement & think how hard it is for me to give up donuts. LOL. There's a joke in there somewhere.

When I go grocery shopping, I have to steer clear of the bakery shop. Just the aroma throughout the store gets me going.

Good luck to you & God bless.

If you simply cannot kick your craving then ask a co-worker to split one with you, that way you won't eat the whole thing. (not that you would probably have room anyway)

I don't really get CRAVINGS where I must get in my car, go to the store, buy and eat something. However, when I'm out with friends, and they order dessert -- I'll allow myself to have the smallest bite, barely 1/2 a spoonful. Like you said, the key is enjoying it slowly, appreciating the taste, and then PUTTING THE UTENSIL DOWN. This surgery is about lifelong changes, but it's not meant to be complete deprivation. The key is KNOWING how to enjoy without overindulging, being accountable, and knowing when to say, "no." I think enjoying a donut hole once a week, maybe more like every other week -- so long as your weight is coming off -- is not the worst thing in the world.

My advice to all of you having this craving and urge is to actually go back and understand what the sleeve was created for. Some assume the main reason was to stop eating junk. Not saying you'll do but some people I crossed path with did.

The sleeve = Portion Control

So you don't have to feel bad about have junk food if it is in moderation. Just don't over do it. I actually implement the half rule. Eat half of everything and either save or throw out the rest lol.. Trust me it works and limits caloric intake...

So indulge just don't get arrived away! Lol

You might not even be able to eat a donut. I haven't been able to. It got stuck in my throat and I had to hack it back up :-/

I could have taken them or left them before... Now that I read your post I have a terrible hankerin' for a donut! I swear I can almost smell them..... :-P. I just finished reading a post about cup cakes with Peanut Butter frosting. Ohhh... Now I want a fresh, hot donut with Peanut Butter frosting! I'm outta control!

Hahaha that is hilarious! I'm so glad you have a great sense of humor! Honestly where did that whole "donut" thing come from anyways?

Thanks for all you did as an officer and keeping us safe!

I've heard good things about holeydonuts.net but haven't tried them myself. I'm super excited to try them but they are pricey with the shipping. Just an idea for other doughnut fans.

Well thanks everyone for your input on my craving..I did have half of a glaze this weekend..and let me just say I'm over it..it felt terrible going down, and then afterwards I felt way to full and crummy. It was a self taught lesson..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
