Hi everyone! I'm now 3 weeks post op and about to start my soft food diet tomorrow. I've been feeling really tired for the past 3 days. I felt really great and energetic in weeks 1 and 2, but now I'm just lethargic and tired. Any advice??

Hi

I have been lurking around this thread for a while now and decided to join in

I'm a 23 yo studying a bachelors degree in nursing my current weight is 99kg, my starting weight was 102.3 kg I thought it was 104kg but my scale was wrong and my goal weight is 60-65kg, I'm on a one week pre op diet but I did it for two weeks.

My surgery is this Thursday 7th, and I'm not stressed nor am I excited, I am more concerned about my Uni load and assessments. I'm scared that I will fail or struggle to keep up.

My family on the other hand are very excited and can't wait for me to be healthy and happy as they have seen me struggle with my weight since I started going through puberty, I have 4 sisters I'm the middle child (my parents kept trying for a boy lol)

Sorry for the long post :)

You'll be fine mini. Keep positive and push forward. You will have your bad days when you question whether you made the right decision, but you will get past it. I haven't spoken to one person who regrets having done this or anyone who couldn't handle what gets thrown into their path. I think we as humans are a hell of a lot stronger than we give ourselves credit for. I'm sure you will think back and wonder why you ever worried in the first place. Good luck for Thursday!

Mini me, good luck for this Thursday. Of course everyone is different and you will be more tired afterwards, but if you just prioritize yourself everything else will fall into place. I think you are making a great decision at your age, so many of us have battled with our weight for decades before making the decision.

I just got my date. March 7th for my surgery. It is a decision that it not an easy one. It is also not a vain decision. It is a healthy choice so grab the journey with pride. I had a long path to get to the date of surgery and felt really guilty that I could not lose it on my own, but the guilt is gone. I am doing what it takes to be healthy. You should feel great about your decision. Good luck.

Thank you Kate and I've been prioritizing my work so far and I'm wishing I done this earlier lol but I'm grateful for having this chance at a new and healthier lease on life

Thank you and I agree, we are a lot stronger than we think but I'm always self doubting myself and I hope that I can learn to stop doing this and just commit.

Welcome Mini and all the best for your surgery.

Thank you kelliv

Great positive comment and all the best for 7 March. Every person's journey and reasons for having surgery are personal and the only one who can ultimately make this decision is the one having it as it is your body. Good on you for reconciling with your decision. I haven't come across one person who regrets getting their sleeve and I certainly don't.

Hi kelBel found when I was that early out if I had a berocca I felt a lot better it gave me energy and boost in Vitamins, I still have one daily.

I felt flat like that too. I had my B12 levels checked and that was a little low. I make sure I'm getting enough Protein for energy and getting all the fluids I need.

Also I make sure I'm moving and doing 30 - 60 mins of exercise 5 or 6 times a week. walking is good at the start. It's amazing how doing this gives you energy.

They say hormones are held in fat cells. I've often wondered if the flat feeling might be our bodies processing some of that? I keep my Water up to flush it out, if that is the case :)

Hi KelBel, I spoke to my dietician today and believes I'm not eating or drinking enough. Moved on to the mushy stage today and she has encouraged me to eat cruskits (even though they're crunchy they dissolve easily in your mouth) with high Protein toppings such as egg, cottage ricotta or Philly cheese, shaved deli meats etc. She has also suggested I snack on Greek yoghurt with soft fruit mixed through. I had one cruskit with cottage cheese and shaved ham on it this afternoon and it was AMAZING!!! Just to have something crunchy that also went down well was really exciting!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
