Thanks Michelle, are you on purée stage still? So you eat tuna and fish at this stage? So maybe the no lumps thing was during liquid stage as dietician said to strain food to get lumps out. I will ave to read notes again I think. Apart from shakes, what other Protein did you get dring liquid stage please?

Its all very confusing. During the liquid stage, it was shakes, Water, powearade (in the first few days as I was getting dehydrated ) , vitamised / puree Soups (thin enough to drink through straw), yoghurt pureed with milk (again to a thin consistency ). I didn't worry about Protein in the first week as it was simply to hard to get it down. Still now I get my protein from the shakes. I continue to have 2 a day as portion size is very small and I cant achieve required protein in food alone. I thought week 3-4 were puree stage too but appears to be soft food stage. My Dr then says I can start introducing other foods from start of week 5. I noticed my dietician guidelines were complete different to my surgeons. I went with my surgeons guidelines as personally I think he's rhe one with expertise in the recovery from surgery. Good luck today.

Mine is exactly like Michelle's. I am now nearly at week 4 and can pretty much eat anything. I have even tried sushi and went down great. I went to the ekka on Saturday and had 2 small bites of a Dagwood dog, really well chewed but I straight away felt I was going to faint so had to rush and find a seat. I think the oil / batter didn't agree with me, otherwise all is going great. I guess like my surgeon said that I will learn what foods I can and can't tolerate. One thing that I used to consume daily was coke cola. I have absolutely no desire to have fizzy drinks, lollies etc so really happy about that :)

Kelliv - I got my liquid Vitamins from a health store but I was able to swallow tablets (thyroid) from day after op so after I finish the liquid, I will go on Vitamin tabs. Good luck for today :) keep us updated when you can.

Does anyone know at what stage we can incorporate more exercise. I want to start swimming and gym sessions ?

With regards to stages, I was on the Fluid phase (1) for 2 weeks instead of 1 week, but no harm done. I just wanted to be safe. I was then on puree for 2 weeks and now on soft stage for 4 weeks. Some things are easier to get down than others.

I do recommend the Knife, Fork, Band book which has a multitude of recipes for pre and post surgery. It's aimed for those being banded, but the recipes also work well for us sleevers.

Hi Shell. Glad everything is going well. Our bodies are great at letting us know what they will and won't tolerate :-). I used to love coke to but the craving for it has gone.

In regards to exercise.. I think that differs but I remember reading somewhere between 6-10 weeks (ie six weeks for swimming 10 weeks for weights etc). I guess it all depends on the intensity of the exercise. Isn't is just great to actually want to exercise?! I'm away for work for* weeks staying on the 4th floor of a hotel. I use the stairs everyday! yes up and down all 123 steps. :) I wouldn't of considered doing that 4 weeks ago. Loving life

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
