Oh wow, the first two weeks are rough. You just keep walking and do your best to manage the pain. I promise you it will get better!

Gas X..or Beano...for over the counter. My doc sent me home with prescription gas relieve after surgery, maybe you can have something called in?. Walking really is the key too

I was just sleeved this past Wednesday 4/18 and had terrible bloating and gas...I've been walking but discovered that standing in place and sort of rotating my hips around (slowly) as if I'm dancing really helps to move that gas around. I know it sounds silly but it helped me.

Congrats on your sleeve. The only thing that helped me was walking. I walked ALL THE TIME. I had my sleeve done on the 12th and am now walking 3-5 miles a day...not all at once, I break it up between 4-5 walks. It is the ONLY thing that helped get the gas out and I also think it helped me heal much faster than I expected to. It's been almost 10 days, and I am already getting my Protein and liquids in. When I started, I couldn't even get an ounce of liquid in me with out feeling "overly full" and bloated. So, I say walk as much as you can....where ever you can. I live in a Condo and my first two days home, i walked in circles until the gas moved and I felt better. Good luck and let us know how you are doing!!!

I was sleeved on 3/29 and my gas was horrible. The day I got home from the hospital I walked about 10 times a day. It really was the best thing for the gas and bloating.

Thank you all so much! I have been walking in circles around the house. I think tomorrow I am going to have my husband take me to the mall and walk around there. The walking does help! I think I underestimated how beneficial walking would be, Again, thanks for all the advice and encouragement.

Sip, sip, sip the liquid. I found this helped too. Congratulations on your sleeve!

The reason the Gas X won't work is because the bloating is caused by the gas they use to blow your abdomen up so they can work in there during surgery. It's not in your stomach, it's in your body cavity. Walking is about the only thing that will work.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
