1 Week Post Op Did Something Bad :-/

Recommended Posts

I'm a week out and I ate mashed potatoes (oooops). No side affects. My tummy liked it. What should I do? Have my post op check up on Thursday .

Be careful you don't get food stuck in your staple line. Doc's have you on a special diet to help prevent leaks by eating the wrong foods at the wrong time. ;)

You have to really be careful to exercise discipline. You've only just started and you have a long way ahead of you for that restrictive diet. Sometimes something's wont make you sick but it can cause damage to your sleeve. Just like the breads, pastas, rice.. You may tolerate them but they could cause an obstruction. I wish you the best of luck & happy healing!

So you ate mashed potatoes, and thankfully, nothing has happened. That's really good, but from here on out, stick with your post op. It would be a real shame to have complications after having worked so hard, and been through so much to get to this point. Talk with your doctor to get more suggestions on what you can have, and make sure you finish healing. I've seen others on the board talk about major complications when they skipped ahead on their eating plans, and I would hate to see you going through the same pain and suffering that they have. Good luck!

I say ditto to what all they said! Try to exercise discipline. It's not easy, but practice makes perfect. Good luck!

I wouldn't be nervous or afraid...you're most likely okay but skipping your diet progression constantly and eating as you did before the surgery. Everyone stumbles a bit but you just have to do better the next day. I am 4 months out or so and I decided to eat a spoonful of ice cream a few weeks ago... BIG MISTAKE. But I learned from it and move forward doing better the next day.

Girl you ain't got a leak! Stop that mess in your head and stop that over googling.... from one worrywart to another! lol I DID have a leak and didn't do anything wrong. My staple slipped and opened because my skin necrocted away from the suture line. Schtuff happens... but feel bettter... I'm here to claim that 1% of the population that I've read (yes by googling) of who this happens to! (stop googling! and smile mama!)

Follow your diet and stop worrying on this one time..... but follow your dr's orders. He gives them for good reasons... ok? Hugs

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
