Recommended Posts

I'm asking because a friend of my cousins said she regrets her surgery because now she can't stop losing weight and is having a hard time gaining weight I find this hard to believe but I'm curious if this has happen to anyone??

my husband had the sleve and DS 3 years ago and for a short period of time he lost too much but he slowly gained it back and now has been able to maintain at a good place for him. the only problem in getting too low is if you get sick you have no cushion.

It's pretty easy to gain weight with a sleeve--milkshakes work, so does fried food and candy. Sometimes it takes a little while to achieve balance in maintenance but I don't know of anyone who can't stop losing. More often, I see people who stop fifteen or twenty pounds above goal because they can't get the last bit off.

I got a little worried...I wanted to weigh 135 pounds and I hit 110 after the stomach flu this past Dec...that was too much. I added a few things to my diet (not junk! I chose things with more fat and a Protein Bar almost everyday). I am still more than 10 pounds below my goal but much happy here and staying put!

I also find it hard to understand....We ALL knoow how to gain weight, as we did it for years.....all she has to do is add in a few foods that have higher fat, carbs, or calories..it's not rocket science....lol

unless she's going for the good old "poor me....factor...help, i can't stop losing weight....what do i do.....lol

I remember worrying about this after I got my sleeve. The lowest weight I ever hit was 136 lbs and all of sudden I became VERY hungry and unable to control myself. But as soon as I let my weight climb 2-3 lbs, the hunger decreased. Whenever I tried to get down to 136 again, I would get ridiculously hungry again. I found it impossible to get below that weight. Yet I have no trouble maintaining in the low 140s (I've put on some muscle since, so I actually have a lower bodyfat % at 141 than I did at 136). I'm big-boned and I found that when I weighed less, I was quite bony, whereas with a few extra pounds of muscle, I look much healthier.

I have heard a few cases of this. My cousin's wife has lost too much weight at this point. She looks gaunt. I don't know if it's because she is too strict or just unable to eat enough. It's kind of scary. I really do think that she will be able to gain some weight back after she stretches her sleeve a bit. It doesn't stay quite as small as it was the first few months after surgery. It CAN happen, but it doesn't usually happen. I agree with the above poster who said that most people settle just a bit above their goal. It really depends on the person.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
