I had a rash too, but it was the same week that I came home from the hospital. I was sleeved the 13th. It was from the medical tape. You could be allergic to rubber gloves, tape or anything your dr may have used when examining you. You can develop an allergy at any time. I hope this helps.

I only posted once, not sure why it posted so many times. Sorry about that!

I had a horrible itchy rash that I just got rid of. My doctor said it was my body reacting to either the antibiotics from surgery or the anesthesia. I was initially told to take Benadryl, but that didn't work. I ended up needing a prescription for prednisone to stop the itching.

Hope you feel better!!

They actually used surgical glue so I'm not really sure.. all I know is that I'm itchy!!! Lol .. but thank u

I had the surgical tape too and in the first week mark I also had some nasty rashes around them. I thought I was having an allergic reaction to the tape, since it was on my skin for so long. I never went in to see my surgeon but I did call and they told me to put hydrocortisone cream on it twice a day. It took a LONG time to go away but it did. Also, at that point the tape was mostly peeling away... so I helped them along a bit. Not the best idea but they were seriously bothering my skin. They also told me to stop using the surgical tape around the bandages (so, take the bandages off as well). At that point I had already stopped the tape.

Good luck!

Oh, I forgot to say that I tried both benadryl and benadryl cream and they did not work for me.

I have a latex allergy and my doc put a regular band aid on my drain incision after he pulled the drain. The incision was completely healed by the time that rash cleared up! My doc said that it was more important to keep the drain incision covered than to worry about the possible rash from the band-aid. Not sure if I agree with him, but, at 7 months post-op, I'm just thrilled with how things are going.

Hydrocortisone cream, benadryl and triple antibiotic ointment did NOTHiNG for my little rash. I just tried to keep it clean and dry.
