Hi, My Name Is Lori And I'm Overweight...

Recommended Posts

...my surgery date is 4/11/12 in Edmonds, WA. I'm excited but a little scared too. Hope that's normal. I decided to do this because my health is important to me. I want to improve the quality of my life. I hope there are others on this board who are nearby...I live in Renton and I go up to Edmonds often. New friends would be appreciated. Anyone out there? I'd love to give/recieve support.

It is great. I did mine 24 days ago. The hardest thing is changing the way you think. I still go to the kitchen and look and I am not even hunger nor can i EAT. The diet is the hardest. The Protein intake is hard. Just read other post It made me feel better. Good luck

My surgery is also scheduled for the 11th!! I don't live in WA, but I would be happy to keep in touch via PM, email or text. We can go through it together! I am nervous and excited, but can't wait either.

Good luck Lori!! It is most definitely normal to be scared and excited and anxious and happy and sad (yes, sad... you are giving up a big part of you, even if it is to gain something wonderful), etc etc. I believe all of us rollercoaster sometimes. I personally found the time between receiving my date and the surgery to be the hardest part (emotionally).

I don't live near you, but you made a great choice getting on these boards. The people here are amazing and so non-judgmental and friendly. Stick around and you'll probably fall in love with them like I did :) These people were/are my support group (I couldn't get to one physically due to transportation/time) and I am so thankful for them!

Again, congrats and it will be here before you know it!

Thanks to the computer age we all live close to you! If your mixed emotions aren't normal, then you and I are both a little nutso. I'm having surgery next week and I have my brief moments of doubt but they are always followed by hours and hours of determined, confident resolve. I know I've made the right decision and my reasons for doing so are a mirror image of yours. You and I WILL succeed... Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Yes it has been a long 6 months, but a good 6 months. I have learned a lot and I am still learning. The hardest thing has been quitting drinking soda. I can say I haven't drank soda in 5 months. It feels great! I can only imagine what life is going to be like after surgey. Keep in touch

Hi! Good luck to you! I DO live in WA and had my surgery in Federal Way by Dr. Srikanth. I had a complication post surgery, but everything ended up ok. :) I am 12 days post op and feel fantastic! 31 pounds gone forever! Let me know if you have any questions. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
