How many fills do you have to have?

I am on my third fill and I'm still hungry and haven't lost more than a pound in the last two weeks. My fill person is very careful, but I only have 4.5 cc in a 10 cc band. When I get a fill, my nurse practitioner has me drink water to see if the band is tight. I can't really feel how tight it is so I go home (2 hour drive) and find I can eat soft food the next day. Am I weird or something? My friend had her band at around 7 cc and she had to have an unfill. I haven't managed to get really filled yet and it's costing me a lot. I have lost 24 pounds since May ll and have lost 1 pound in the last two weeks. Any advice on this? Thanks.

I've just had my fifth and I can still eat almost anything but I've noticed my appetite has dropped again, much like after surgery. I'm not getting as hungry. But none of the previous four fills made much difference to me.

I'm now up to 2.5 in a 4cc band.

I have a 4cc band with 3 fills putting me at 1.6 my restriction is excellent as some points, good at some and just ok at other times. I do stay full for very long periods of time but my quantity intake could stand to be a little smaller. Not sure if I should schedule for fill #4 to have a more aggresive approach. I went to visist my family in Ohio last weekend and I did not have the urge or appetite to eat out one time. In previous years I would have use the out of town thing as an excuse to eat out. So that tells me the band is doing something positive. GOODLUCK to you all and lets pray that we all have more patients.

LOL,

It appears that the smaller bands may work better in the beginning but I read the posts on the various bands, and I think I'll just have to get about 2 more fills before it works very well. I'm going to try to get it filled up to 6 cc which may help but most of the folks I've talked to say you need 7 to 7.5 cc on the bigger band. Interestingly, my insurance is paying part of the fill costs. Amazing! They don't pay for anything.

But what with my eBay Cadillac and the surgery and all these fills, I'm getting poor pretty quick. I hope to get the band to work soon so I can cut down on the food bill at least.

Thanks to all of you for helping me out.

i have had 2 fills = up too 1.7 in a 4cc band. i got a total unfill due to reflux and not able to eat much at all. then today i had the most horrible fill ever (read my thread "share my expeerance") the fill today = up too 1 cc. i saw that i was resticted but i don't feel to restricted.

i have a 4cc band I have had 6 fills and I am currently at 3.35cc, I dont think my body can take another fill. I only eat lunch and dinner no breakfast too much restriction. Lunch, I can eat 4-6 oz, diner 4-6oz. Its up to me to eat right and excercise to get this weight off, No MOre fills.

I am at 3.25cc in a 4cc band. I am in need of another fill cause there isn't a ton of restriction. I can feel it in the morning, but the tightness is gone by evening. My doc told me from the beginning that he thought I would have to go up to the full 4ccs.

my doctor said that he has never filled any 1 or herd of any1 that has gotten the full 4cc, im at 1 cc at 1.7 it was to much so i had a total unfill and i am starting over, but i still feel restinction,

Yeah, my doctor said somthing like that too. Till I got up to 3.9cc.

After a total unfill, I had the same restriction at 2.8, that I did at 3.9cc, so I am not at that sort of fill level anymore, but it does happen that people end up with a full, or near full band.

I just checked out your pics. You look fantastic. I can't wait till I am at goal. Good luck with your surgery. I know you will do absolutely fine....especially since the Elmo slippers are going with you.

I have a 4cc band just got my 2nd fill last wednesday to 2.3 cc had to have .5 taken out today cause it was WAY to tight, could hold water down but nothing else, and even the water gurgled all the way down and so did my spit. I am at 1.8 now, and waiting till i can eat solids again to see what kinda restriction i have. Being too tight is for the birds!!!!!

I had my band put on May 26th and have had 2 fills since then. My last fill was 3 wks ago and I currently have 2.8 cc's with a 4cc band. I have restriction in the mornings and am fine in the afternoons and evenings. If I dont chew propperly I know the food will get stuck however I don't get that full feeling. I am not sure if I need another fill?? :phanvan :phanvan

Super Model wanna be

Glad you asked about this. I have a 4 cc band (05/30/06) and my first fill was 2 ccs on July7th. I have scheduled another fill for Aug. 26th. How many fills are too many fills?

I don't know how many is too many. I guess you just keep going untill it feels right to you. Nobody knows your body like you do.
