Post Ops: After The Two Years Is The Size Of Food The "normal Size?"

Well, we should have already seen what is considered "normal size" food based on the food chart/observation. I believe it's a palm size of protein, a cup of carbs, and more veggies. Anywho, what I want to know from post ops that are further along (maybe 1.5/2 years) is the amount of food you eat now considered the "normal" amount or is it still smaller in comparison to what the average person might eat? What I have been doing for a few months is measuring my foods, and using smaller plates. Smaller plates is a great tip, especially if you've always had gigantor plates. My bestie had the RNY, and I have asked her to send a picture of her food to get a visual and it does look smaller than average, but her pouch would be smaller than my stomach.

I am 18 months out and the other day for breakfast I had; half a slice of buttered toast, half of one over-medium egg, and half a slice of bacon. I was STUFFED, and that's a year and a half out! Lun

  • I'm19mths out and I still weigh my food (desperately trying to get to my first weight goal) and I eat between 6-8oz of food in a meal depending on consistency. This is VERY similar to the weight I wa

  • Yes! Great comparison... in fact both my kids, now aged 11 and 13 both eat a lot more than I do at meal times - we're old fashioned here and all eat our meals, at the table together...lol! They used

The stomach contracting the other day with the tuna salad was difficult to describe, it is like the stomach is shuddering around the food and it definitely feels like a warning to not eat another bite and just back off.

This is a great and interesting thread! I think that the amount you can eat at a sitting two years out is going to be something we want to explore. It is obvious our sleeves adapt and can handle eating more. It is scary but good if you consume the right foods. I am only 7 weeks out and I already have learned about slider foods. I ate some wheat thins with tuna and I realized I ate far too many wheat thins. Those sliders realy can sabotage weight loss! I have to only grab a couple now because if I bring more I can eat them. Pretty scary! I know what everyone means about slider foods being dangerous to weight loss.

Sometimes, I feel like a weirdo on here.... I can definitely eat more than my sleeved friends. At one year out, I can eat a normal portion of food. I can eat about 5 oz. of Protein, a normal serving (not restaurant size) of veggies and probably a half to full serving of starch. If we are talking bad food choices, I can eat a small burger and most of a small fries. I can easily eat two slices of pizza.

Honestly, the amount I can eat scares me as I have 30 lbs. to go. I lost weight so quickly early on that I failed to learn some of the good habits that are natural to others. I'm now having to teach myself not to drink with meals, always eat protein first, etc.

Just another perspective...

I'm more than 1.5 years out and no, I still can't eat a full meal anywhere. Even at restaurants that serve "normal" portions. So I doubt you will ever be able to eat what would be considered a full-sized meal.

I don't have a Pizza Hut here. The size of pizza is a thin crust regular pizza.
