My surgery is April 2 also. I am very nervous, and excited. I have only had one surgery before so not sure what to expect. My husband is very supported. I am a diabetic so that is my top reason but I have been heavy since I gave birth 27 years ago. I am about 80 lbs overweight and get told all the time that all I need to do is eat right and exercise more, well guess what? I have been working out for 6 mths and watching what I eat and I have only lost 18 lbs. But my biggest fear is that since I have been heavy so long my skin will be saggy and I will have slot of excess skin that has been stretched out. That may sound vain, but that's just me. I think the prep diet has me a little scared. I have heard that some doctors only require 2 to 3 days of liquids only. But others say 2 weeks. I am tring to prepare myself for the 2 weeks but am praying for 2 -3 days only.

I wish you good luck on your journey. Hope for a speedy recovery.

That's my biggest concern is the liquid diet...that and all the gas pain people say they have...but I got the gas x strips like people here recommended so I hope they let me have them in the hospital

Sorry I hit send to fast...I hope your surgery goes smoothly and you have a fast recovery

My sister in law had excess skin and she just had a Tummy Tuck done, she feels great... But she said she had to lose about 180 pounds ,... I was wondering too bout excess skin, I need to lose about 88 pounds and I was wondering if strength training while losing would help with the skin

I am sooo excited for you all! You will do great, dont dwell on the issues, I kinda did and guess what, I had none! No gas, no issues whatsoever! I only had to do the clear liquid diet for two days before surgery, thank goodness! Best of luck with your surgeries, keep us posted.

Ok today is my pre op and I'm scared. My husband is going with me. I can't believe it already here. Well almost. I am praying this is not a bad mistake that I will regret. I know this is just nerves but I want to run away. But I have come this far I must continue. I just wish my daddy was here to talk to. I will suck it up and go through this for him and myself. Wish me luck and strength cuz I need it.

Does anyone know what the preop is, exactly? I'm always more nervous when I'm not sure what to expect!

My pre-op consisted of chest Xrays, EKG, blood work, MRSA testing and getting my Incentive Spirometer to practice breathing at home. No biggie, just running final tests before surgery.

From what I understood, my preop is to ask the Dr. any questions re: the surgery and I'm going to be paying my out of pocket expenses. I will also be getting my prescription for lab work and chest exray, then I'll go register at the hospital.

jocelyn - I tease my husband, what if I change my mind after they are rolling me down the hallway? Will they be mad at me?

Good to know the preop isn't too bad. I guess I've made it this far, so a few more people asking questions and poking at me isn't too bad. I just want to jump ahead, oh, maybe next year this time!

That would be nice to skip ahead. Well the pre op wasn't to bad. I never got to see the dr. He was called out on an emergency. The other people in his office are so nice and they are very flexible. I got to meet three others that are having the same surgery on the same day. I will go back and talk to the dr next week. I still have several questions. But I don't feel as scared.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
