I'm only 2 weeks out and I am craving cucumbers and tomatoes, what's weird is I have never been a tomato eater. Now that's all I can concentrate on. I see my Dr Tuesday and I'm planning on asking for a rush on the next step to vegs. I have a trip planned for next weekend to South Lousianna so I hope I can have some crawfish while I'm there. Everything I've tried so far has been tolerated.

The one thing that keeps me going is knowing I will be healthier, slimmer and happier. But getting to that place is not easy. Tomorrow morning is my surgery, and I'm so hungry but I made it through 9 days of liquids and and I can make it through 2 weeks of clear, I hope. I know I'm a little grumpy and tired but I have to do this, to prove to myself that I can be a stronger person without eating everything in sight. I know I will eat again just smaller amounts and better choices. I just need to get through the next two weeks. Say a prayer for me cause I need them. I want to thank everyone that has responded to my post. All the good thoughts and support are greatly appreciated.

Am 4 days post op and I was starving to death not really, but I was wanting something heavier then broth, so I got some "egg drop soup" man that was the best tasting thing ever. And my husband made a pot of pinto beans. The juice off them is very good also. The egg soup has 15 grams of protien so that a big plus. Now I'm happy.

Ok day two of liquids, not to bad except co workers have to sit beside me with their fries and burgers. How rude and yes they know what I'm doing. They will fill differently when I'm healthier than them so ha ha. I found that I miss chewing. So I chew on a Popsicle to help with that. My stomach is growling really loud now. I'm going to make me something to drink now.

The main reason I ever considered the surgery was my Father. He had a heart attack in March of last year, he was not overweight he just wore out his heart. While he was in the hospital I told him about maybe checking into WLS. Every day he would ask me if I spoke to the doctor yet. When I did talk to my pcp she was all excited and suggested the sleeve. When I told my father about this surgery he so positive. Told me to get it. I lost my dad in July and I made a promise to him and myself to do this. So I can't back out now. I know he would have loved to be around to see this happen. I have my angel to see me through this.

I didn't wake up with a tube down my throat, I did have a JP drain in for five days.
I didn't have gas pain at all, but my incisions and my little tummy hurt a bit -- also had a couple of days of dry heaves post-op. I would not classify this surgery as painful really, compared to other pains I have experienced.
I didn't have pre-op or post-op liquids-only, I live in a place where the emphasis is getting you back onto normal foods asap.
I did have to inject myself with blood thinners for four weeks post-op (was a breeze), and also took the anti-gallstone (massive) pills for six months.
I wasn't all that worn out or tired post-op for very long (doctor/nut claim that the 'real' food has a lot to do with this, I don't know if that's true or not though), though I was off work for five weeks (local practice, I probably could have worked sooner just fine...glad I didn't have to though!).
My hunger did NOT go away, except for seriously like a day or two (it's not acid, I'm successfully treated by PPIs ever since surgery and do not have any acid problems at all), so I've done all this while still getting hungry.
My full signal came back a month or two post-op, which was great. Since I was hungry, feeling 'full' was exactly what I needed. This is totally do-able even WITH an appetite, IMO.
ETA: I DID lose a ton of hair, it IS coming back slowly. I didn't go through ketosis or have the funny taste, hyper sense of smell, or lose my taste for any foods that I liked pre-op (ie, I still like them all now). There is almost nothing I can't eat (!).
I have found it to be ludicrously easy. It's been a fun journey as I've gone along, the progression of things intrigues me, and my body showing up again is fascinating. I enjoy food and eating, so that's still nice. I just can't eat loads of food at one go.
I've been eating 1000+ cals per day since about 2 months post-op and am now up to 1500+ per day. I've lost 90+ lb in the year since surgery and am just a few pounds from goal.
It's great!! If there's one thing I would say, it would be: Go for it! It's an incredible opportunity.

Wow! Sounds like I was a lucky one...No tube down my throat when I woke up & no drains! I did have a sore throat for about a week. But nothing I couldn't handle. I was off pain meds after a day being home. I just need to get my butt on my exercise bike more. Good Luck to all. I feel this was the best thing I have done for myself!

Wow, I am a server also and I would know way go back to work so soon. Not only because I think I would get really fatiqued but my job requires a lot of lifting of trays and sometimes bus tubs. I would be afraid of getting a leak. Be very careful. If your employer knows then return to light duty but if not do not chance it. People get leaks even after surgery.

OK, my #1 fear about having getting sleeved is pain. I have never had surgery, never had kids, never even gotten stitches!! I've never broken a bone! I find menstrual cramps debilitating!! I have a really tough job where I sometimes have to work with terminally ill people, and I lost my mom when I was a teenager, and I am a TIGER when it comes to dealing with emotional pain, but I am so scared about the hurting. And I know myself, I am going to be ALL OVER those pain meds- luckily, I can take two-four weeks off from work so my main priorities will be getting Water, Protein, and walks in. ANd I can do all of those things doped up on Vicodin!
But my question for you is, have you had any other procedures? What was the pain like, specifially? Was it gas or incision? Can you feel your stomach inside your body hurting? TMI?

Y'all are freaking me OUT! I mean, I know we are grown-ups and have to consider the risk of pain and complications, I mean, it's MAJOR FREAKING SURGERY, but I am a sad little baby kitten when it somes to pain. As in, I am terrified of pain and blood. I brought this up to my surgeon, and I wondered out loud if that should disqualify me from surgery, but he assured me that it does not disqualify me.
    But I'm scared!
    I'm so scared.
Of pain, not of being thinner and healthy :ack2:

i wish someone would have told me HOW MUCH PAIN is really involved... on this board i just kept reading ppl saying they felt minimal pain, so i wasnt prepared for the amount of pain i was actually in after surgery... im 5 days post op and still in pain, but i refuse to take my pain meds because they make me loopy and soo sleepy.. the pain is more manageable now... but there is definitly still pain. I hope im well enough to go back to work (im a waitress) by Feb 19th.
