Having trouble removing a stitch or two. The bottom of the knot that I need to clip is below the skin :( Some of the tight ones I removed by sliding a pair of twizzers under it and then cutting the stitch with a razor but I have two stitches that are just a pain in the butt to get out! Any ideas?

I soaked in a tub to make my skin more pliable (I was pretty overweight so it was already pliable but i found the smaller amounts of Water I was taking in kind of made my skin dry). Then I used tweezers and sharp, curved tip scissors to get the one I had below the skin.

You could also gently massage the area using antibiotic ointment; do this a few times. Several hours later make sure the area is clean and dry and use a small pair of scissors (like the ones found in the tweezer section at the drug store) and gently slide the end of the scissors under the suture and cut close to the skin. Then pull the longer tail of the suture to remove from the skin. If you need help... a nurse at your clinic could assist you (you will likely have to call ahead).

Oh goodness I am sorry you are having trouble. I had my husband take out the stitches for me. He used scissors and tweezers too. There are some good videos on youtube about removing stitches that might help. The other advice in this thread is good too.

Lucky You All....I had friggin staples...got them out Friday...all 37 of them...I asked the surgeon when he was finished "did you get all 37 of them?" He said "my oh my you must have been bored!" didn't hurt taking them out at all, but they were a bugger to live with for almost 2 weeks! Blessings~Melanie:)

I feel VERY fortunate that my dr glued my incisions closed, I never had to remove anything! You can't even see where my incisions were! When the glue fell off, the incisions were healed!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
