Thanks starsleeve :D

But why did it take soooo long ???

lol

Did the surgeon make you lose more weight ? or did you meet your 5-10% at options class ??

I'm from LA but I went through Cedars. I did not have to lose weight before surgery. But my journey from first visit with my primary care physician for referral to actual surgery was about 9 months.

Sorry i am trying to learn how to use this app on my phone. But to answer ur question my surgeon did say i should continue to loose weight up until my surgery date. But up until the it didnt seem like that big of a deal on how much was lost.

Hi

I was sleeved at Kaiser West LA. My surgeon was Dr. Casillas. It took me approximately 2 months after my consult with the surgeon to be called by the scheduler to get a surgery date. It has been great so far. I'm a week and a half post op. I can tell you as far as the weight loss, if you are assigned to Dr. Casillas, do NOT gain any weight or he will reschedule. I gained 1/2 lb and he canceled my surgery and I was put back on the surgery appt wait list. Which by the way took another 2 months to get a surgery date another 2 months away.

All in all, West LA is great as well as Dr. Casillas.

No regrets here!

OMG :( for reals that is just mess up. If you dont mind me asking how much do you weight ? Or how many did you weight when he saw you for the first time ? what can I expect the first consultation ? OMG Im just anxious LOL SORRY. Did you loss weight over at options program ? give me details please :)

Hi

I was 262 lbs when I started the options program. By the time I saw the surgeon for the consult. I was down another 12 lbs. When I went for my pre op I was 5 more lbs down. I had to return the day before surgery to meet with the bariactric nurse to watch a video on post op care. It was in the afternnoon, I had just had lunch and when the weighed me, I was 1/2 lbs more. The surgeon canceled my surgery. In the end, i was glad I had the chance to lose some more weight. I really feel that it was instrumental in my recovery. I am a week and have and half post op and I have lost 18 lbs so far.

Kaiser WLA was great, I have no complaints!

Hello there well, I'm from Inglewood, Ca and I'm getting sleeved on March 23, I have my pre-op on the 15 of this month, just a little run down of what I've experience with Kiaser. I was referred to the options program, about 1yr and 3 months ago, I went to orientation in july 2011 at kiaser sunset office, since it was a bit far from home and I don't have a car, I waited for the classes which were going to start in sept 2011 at kiaser waterrigde, so classes started and they finished in nov 2011 the last week, since the nurse was fired and no one was assigned that class, we were told to just wait for someone to call in about 3 months, I was furious, because I wanted the surgery to be done after graduating options, so I let december go by in mid january 2012 i started calling the instructor and went off on her, asked to speak to her supervisor, left 2 messages and then i got ahold of her, she asked me to get my labs drawn again to make sure everything was good, I went and to my disappointment, my vitamin d was lower than the first time my labs were drawn, so she she said she was sending my chart to the assigned nurse, that i would get a call within one week, and sure thing, I got the call, before she could even introduce herself, I went off on her, I had 2 months gone by and when they contact me they tell me I'm vitamin d deficiency, she was apologizing and said that I needed to get on a 8 week treatment, so after a long talk I was told that she would contact me to see how i was doing, that she would follow up with me, so I started the treatment like on the 3rd week of february 2012 she calls and tells me she got the ok to have a consultation with the surgeon, so I was schedule for feb. 28, 2012 when I went and talked to the doctor, which is Dr. Jorge Zelada Getty, he was impressed at the fact that I almost lost my 10% I started options at 270lbs and on feb 28 I weigh in at 248lbs, so he just talked health issues and asked if I was ready and I said yes so I told him I was willing to take cancelations if possible and he said he would keep me in mind, to jsut wait for someone to call me to schedule my pre-op, so on March 5, 2012 I get a call asking me if I wanted to have surgery in thursday, I said no, I am so nervous, and I asked was was the next available date and the nurse said march 23, I said I'll take it, so here I am thinking so many things, wishing it could just be over, so if anyone has questions or advice for me you can email me at lady_bug_02@hotmail.com thanks and good luck to everyone.
