Day 1 On Mushies And Stomach Feels Weird

So I was just allowed to start mushies, and I ate 2 small spoonfuls of tuna very slow took a lot of chews, etc. I stopped because I felt full but now (1 hr later) my left side is kinda spazzing. I am still on the Levinsin or whatever, if that helps. I also did hurt myself today by running up for flights of stairs (stupid I know but I was late for my post op follow up) So my left side was painful all afternoon. Does your stomach spazz out after eating?

Mine spazzed after trying tuna, which was in my NUT's post-surgery guide for the mushy stage. But then my doctor freaked out when I told him. He said tuna is NOT a mushy stage appropriate food. He said that making a puree paste may give me and my stomach an aversion to it, told me to hold off until week 4-5 for that. Try to keep to true mushies until then: low-fat or fat-free SMALL curd cottage cheese, plain Greek yogurt, soft tofu, poached eggs, and maybe Laughing Cow Swiss Cheese wedges. Even scrambled eggs can be too much.

Listen to your body and take it easy when it tells you to rest. Anytime I feel like the mushy was too much, I keep to liquids for the rest of the day and give it another try when it feels better. If the pain doesn't go away in a day or so, call your doctor. Maybe try some chamomile or decaf green tea to ease the spazzing?

Tuna is in my week 4 stage so being I'm just starting my week one mushy stage it's been yogurt and cottage cheese and soft scrambled eggs for me. The non fat cottage cheese goes down so smooth so I eat that everyday as it feels good.

It's such an odd feeling to start eating again and even taking the Vitamins (started today) have made me sick to my stomach and I haven't felt that yet at all!

Take it slow and easy and be patient.... Congrats on your journey!

I ate my fill of Fat Free cottage cheese & applesauce. Loved the combination. Egg salad was good with fat free mayo & mustard.. Scrambled eggs did NOT sit well with my sleeve. We live & learn. I ate a lot of Cup a Soup too! Creamy chicken was my favorite. Good luck...

Good luck.... B)
