Metalic Taste In My Mouth When I Wake Up Each Morning

Hi! I was sleeved a week ago today. I am wondering if anyone else wakes up each morning with a metalic taste in their mouth? I do almost each morning, though it goes away pretty fast! Can't wait to get to know each of you better!

Be grateful for that metallic taste... its a sign that your body is in ketosis. You have a high concentration of ketone bodies, which cause that taste, and are the result of breakdown of fatty acids.

This is what's supposed to happen early on after VSG, as you begin eating more and losing more it will gradually abate.

BTW: Yes I have it too. I've done Atkin's in the past so I knew what it was.

Yes, do a search on this site for Ketosis. Lots of posts.

Ketosis is a wonderful thing :) If the taste bothers you, just imagine it as lovely gold jewelry that you'll be able to afford because you're eating so much less haha :)

Take a look at your tongue also, it's probably covered in slimy fuzz too! Get a tongue scraper and use it once or twice a day with a mouthwash rinse afterward.

It lets up - in a few months! So stick with it, this too shall pass.
