As someone that cried when this happened to me here is my advice. If you have sleep apnea go on a cpap machine ASAP. My surgery is now delayed for three weeks for me to go on one. I have told people from day one I have sleep apnea. I get to my final appointment at hospital for surgery and get told I have to wait. I understand their reasoning because I do have bad sleep apnea but I wish I didn't have to wait. Plus it's really hard to get off at my job and have to tell them it was moved plus all my friends and family.

I'm having my evaluation and stuff in about a week- I don't have a surgery dat set up other than after July 30th. Glad I have that set up-

Hang in there !! It's all about your story and determination- it will work out- sorry it's a stressor right now!

I found out I have sleep apnea and was still able to have the surgery. I am sorry to hear that yours has to be delayed. I was sleeved 3/26 and didn't get my cpap machine till last week. It takes a little getting use to it. My pressure is set at 11, and if it weren't for the ramp feature I don't know how I would do it. The ramp starts the pressure at 7 and slowly goes up to 11. I am hoping after more weight comes off I can redo the sleep study and not need it.

Hey again! Tomorrow is exactly week 4, How is everyone doing with food intake at this point? I can do soft veggies and saltines lol. Are there any other suggestions? Also I'm having heartburn issues, the prilosec seems to help but does anyone else have a more natural way of dealing with it?

Baking soda helps. Not the greatest taste of course, but more natural than medications. There's a natural or organic baking soda (forgot the name), just mix with some Water.< /p>

My pressure was 19 and had been using the bipap for several years but wasn't falling asleep driving! Did the home oxygen test after I lost over 100 pounds, but still need it as my oxygen goes too low!!

I'm starting my 3rd month

Surgery date 2/24/14

Height 5'1 SW: 215 BMI:40

CW:179 (but it goes up an down from 181 to 179)

First month I dropped 30+lbs like it was melting off of me! What a feeling. All during my second month I struggled to lose weight. I'm doing all sorts of cool interval & strength training exercising. I'm journaling and staying with all my cals, carbs, protein... Love it but I really want to see the pay off on the scale or in my clothes. I guess it's slower than I thought. My doctor and my support team at the weight loss center say I'm doing everything ok. So why is it so slow. Will it be a struggle forever. Everyone says it will just start coming off again...is that true?

I'm hopeful for this month...maybe I'll lose the 1 to 2 lbs they said I would when I invested my life savings into this procedure, food, gym, training, etc! Just venting...thanks for listening

So happy to have found this forum for us shorties ;)

It's only been 3 months. Your doing great! You will have times when things slow down. Just stay the course and you will see results. It's not magic. It requires work. Even when your where you want to be..... You will have to work to stay there.

Hello every one!!!! Just checking in and updating my status. I've gained 10 pounds!!!!! Yuck!!! I've gotten lazy and eating crap!!! There I said it. Now that my pity party is over.... I have got to get to work and back to basics and drop these 10 pounds before it gets worse. It never gets easier. Even though you drop the weight you will always be working on it.

Please check in with me because I need motivation and accountability.

I'm having those same issues. I haven't weighed myself in a few weeks but I can imagine I've gained due to what I've been eating. Crap!!! I need to get back on track!

Hi everyone,

Well I'm 4'9" and currently weighing 190. I've struggled with my weight since having my son at 16. In 2013, I had a TT done after losing some weight but have gained it all back and then some over the last two years. I've started the process to go through my insurance but am also researching going out of the country. I really nervous to get denied and to continue gaining. I have my consult Friday, 4/10, to see if the insurance company will even consider me.

Hi, everyone... Not sure if this is still active but I'm 5'1" (& 3/4)! CW 227, HW 245+, I'm scheduled for June 12! @shortybug My insurance process is crazy long and my Dr said probably still wouldn't approve since I don't have diabetes, high bp or some other co-morbidity. Aaarrggghh, so I'm going to have my surgery in Tijuana with a great surgeon Dr Maytorena (with "long term vsg") on June 12. Hoping you've gotten good news by now that you have been approved!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
