I was sleeved on 11/29 and I am down 31 pounds since surgery. I feel great, but I do struggle with getting all of my Water in. I am eating pureed foods and walking as much as I can.

Glad to see that everyone is doing so well!

I was sleeved on 11/29 and had a really rough time. Not physically, but emotionally, buyers remorse, you name it. I was depressed about never eating again, never feeling better again, everything I tried to eat made me nauseous, Constipation, taking a gulp by accident and hurting. Just a big old emotional mess. Now that I am 3 wks out I am feeling one thousand times better. I have lost 17lbs since surgery, have my energy, can now chew again. Finally crawling out of my hole and slowly feeling like myself again.

I drink Protein Shakes, eat cheese and lunch meat and can handle salmon. chicken only in chicken salad. tuna wont go down. Will wait a couple more weeks. Nuts are my salvation. I snack on them all the time and its great. I miss fruit but will wait a bit longer. Still having a hard time going out to eat and learning my cues so I don't overeat and then feel horrible, but slowly the clouds are lifting and I am getting there :)

I had surgery 11/21. I've been teetering between 25-27 pounds lost the past few days, which is my fault because I wasn't as good when I went to visit my parents for Christmas unsure.png, but it'll turn around now that I'm back with my healthy fridge and pantry!

I'm on soft foods right now. I mainly eat eggs, deli meat, Protein shakes, cheeses (no fat, since reduced fat and regular make my stomach hate me), toast (yeah yeah, carbs... but it really helps my ketosis settle down), yogurt, etc. Can get about 45 oz of Water daily, when I couldn't even get 16 oz a day before because of acid reflux. I have better time eating slower and chewing more when I eat alone. If someone is with me, I mindlessly eat and get the slimes. Have only thrown up once the past week and it was at work. I really only feel nauseous when I first wake up, but I think it's either because the ketosis gives that awful taste in my mouth or I'm really thirsty.

Sad to say, I'm not doing much exercise. I work in a movie theater so I'm standing and walking around all day, so that's basically my exercise the days I'm at work. Sometimes when I'm walking, or doing something that involves moving my arms a lot at around head level, strangely, I feel a sharp pain in my chest and get winded suddenly so it has discouraged me from doing much. I never felt this "out of shape" when I was 42 pounds heavier! I did sign up for the gym at school so when the semester starts back up in January, I'll there be every day that I'm at school!

I Can get about 45 oz of Water daily, when I couldn't even get 16 oz a day before because of acid reflux.

I used to get 62 ounces the first 3 weeks and got nauseous and went down to 16! Like you, I am now working up to 45 ounces a day which is still too low. What medications are you taking for acid reflux?

My surgeon and I realized it was my CPAP machine filling me with air that didn't allow me to eat and drink enough. As soon as I stopped using my CPAP, my nausea went away and I have been able to slowly eat and drink more. I have also been suspecting acid reflux has something to do with it. I switched from Famotidine (H2 Blocker) to Protonix (PPI). I also take an antacid but I don't think it is still under control.

Longer I am glad to see some resolve for your small portions. Hopefully, it will continue upward. Have you tried the g-2 yet? Maybe other fluids, I know you have your "bar" but I have read where someone could not drink plain Water but, other fluids were okay.

I tried albacore mixed with Johnny Garlic's ceasar dressing (Costco) and it was super yummy, maybe give it a try to help with Protein?

Happy New Year to all.

I was sleeved November 23rd & as of this morning, I am down 25 lbs since surgery & 43lbs with pre-op diet! :) I feel SO FREAKING GREAT, It should be illegal. :) I had an exemplary recovery. No pain, no nausea. I did throw up twice, on the same day about 2.5 weeks post op, otherwise... NADA! I just got done eating 2 oz of thai basil curry chicken & two small mushrooms (it was take out). I get all the Protein in each day without fail. I am drinking a 26Gram protein shot after my workouts at the Y. I have a whole oatmeal packet or cheese grit packet for Breakfast when I work out in the morning. Otherwise, I have eggs. I can eat 2 eggs if they are poached, but can only eat one if they are scrambled with cheese. I tolerate everything.... and it can be a bit scary. I had a small (lighter size) piece of chocolate cake on Christmas. I had one glass of wine. I really feel absolutely normal besides the fact that I can't eat a large amount of anything. Fluids aren't as easy to get in as they were at first. Eating really screws up drinking because you have to wait 30 minutes!

As for exercise, I am exercising my A$$ off!! I have been doing eliptical for 30 minutes and arm weights several times a week, as well as roller skating (to get ready to try and do derby). I just got cleared at 4 weeks to do anything. YAY! I added abs in today at the gym & it went well.... besides being kinda pitiful. haha I can see SUCH a change in my body. I feel strong. I look good. I am really really really HAPPY that I did this & now my brother is thinking about having the surgery!

You were doing 62 oz fine but then started getting nauseous after three weeks? If so, that's odd. I wish I could get in that much! They say Water just basically goes right through, but I can get so full from it, I just know I can feel it sloshing in my stomach! As for the acid reflux, I take Prilosec twice a day. Sometimes I'm forgetful, so if I feel heartburn coming I take a chewable Tums.

Sonja- My nutritionist would rip me a new one if I drank wine!

I was sleeved Nov 28 and I am going through some buyer's remorse. I know my views will change a few months down the road and losing so much weight will be worth it in the end, but I am really missing my "old" stomach right now. I miss feeling full and satisfied, instead of putting on the brakes so I don't get sick. I miss going out to restaurants and eating whatever I am craving. I miss salads, veggies, berries and cheeseburgers. I am tired of feeling tired and slightly nauseous all the time. I constantly have a pasty feeling in my mouth and I can only take a couple swallows of Water. It just feels like so much work right now. Thanks for letting me vent blush5.gif

Hang in there Juli. It will get better. I've been on a binge since Christmas and I'm wondering if I've done myself any damage. I filled my sleeve 3 days in a row. The good thing is it stopped me before I could eat way too much. I think we all felt that way at one time or another. You're right, once the weight starts falling off, you will feel much better.

@Sandyd- I haven't drank Water since surgery. For about a week. as suggested by my surgeon, I switched to the full calorie Gatorade to get my calories up. That eliminated the nausea (after stopping CPAP). Now I am back to Powerade Zero, Sobe 0, milk etc. My Protein, calories and fluids are going up slowly everyday. Thanks for checking on me. hug.gif

@minaleigh- It was very odd to go down to 16 ounces of fluids a day from 62! I had a barium swallow test done and everything is fine. My surgeon suspected my CPAP and he was right! I get full from liquids too. I think it is plain Water that goes right through. Other Clear Liquids hang around a little longer (according to a fast research done yesterday). I will ask my surgeon about taking meds twice a day to completely control my mild reflux.

@Sonja- How AWESOME!!! I am happy for you! (Except for the glass of wine tounge_smile.gif )

@Juli- It is a lot of work! I think it will become easier as time goes by. However look for answers in regards to still being tired and slightly nauseous a month out. I kept calling my surgeon, nurse and NUT until we figured out what was causing my nausea. Good luck!

I was sleeved 11/7. I am down 36lbs. since surgery and 46lbs. total. I struggle to get in my Protein and fluids each day. I have been walking at 5am every morning for a 1/2 hour. I mix a slim fast shake (20g protein) with a frozen yoplait smoothie packet in the morning for breakfast. I can only eat about 1/2 cup of food at lunch and supper. I eat frozen fruit bars for a snack at night if I'm craving which also count towards Fluid. I've thrown up some meals but no rhyme or reason as to why. chicken is difficult to eat. Some meals I am nauseous after eating. Eating is not really enjoyable right now, but I have no regrets. It's probably more difficult for my husband than it is for me to not be able to enjoy our meals together. I go back to the doctor in February for a 12 week check up.

Just had my 6 week check up. So far I am down 63 lbs from my highest weight and 53 lbs from my surgery date. Amping up my workouts with some running mixed in with my walks. Down 2 pants sizes. Overall happy with the results so far. Don't want to lose momentum the next 5 months. My goal is to have another 50 lbs. off by summer. Hope everyone is doing well!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
