January 2012 Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I just had my surgery on January 3rd. Excellent experience in the hospital, don't remember too much the first day since I was drugged smile.png) they checked vitals EVERY hour, so I felt very tired, second day was great no pain killers, took all the IV's off (except one) and third day I went home. I feel excellent, already back at work, a little bit tired, but cannot complain.

Eating after surgery was a bit weird and I am still working on learning to eat very slow smile.png)) Between my pre op 2 weeks liquid diet and since home I already lost almost 20 pounds (19.4)...it looks like a pound per day.

I am not hungry at all and it seems like a get full with nothing...this morning I felt full by the time I took my Vitamins, Calcium, pepcid and my meds with a little bit of mils and 2 little spoons of sugar free pudding. My dr. still wants me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks post op.

Good luck everyone!

Ela

I'm on day 2 of my liquid diet and have been tracking my intake.... It looks like I'm getting fewer than 1,000 calories/day and 80-100 grams of Protein. I didn't really get any numerical guidelines from my surgeon, so I'm hoping that's.... ok. I've been using the Unjury products and Chike powders. Chike will send you a box of samples for just the cost of shipping if you go to their website. They're decent, but I do like the Unjury better. It seems to be the gold standard... and costs an appropriate amount for that. >.<

Today has been much harder than day 1 was, but I'm feeling ok.

Ela2012, What kind of work do you do? I requested off for 3 weeks but I really dont think that i will need that long. I work as an administrative assistant and there is no heavy lifting or anything like that involved. I hope that we have compareable jobs so I can return to work faster. How long is everyone else taking off work for surgery?

Office work...desk job...one week you will be good to go. I was on morphine for the first day, pain killers second day and then only tylenol twice a day.

Do your liquid diet, be strict with that, walk as soon as you can after surgery and as much as possible second day and you will be good to go by the 4th day...a little bit tired, but managable.

Good luck!

Ela

my diet was max 80 gr. of protein per day...don't drink more than 4 shakes/day, supplement with sugar free gello and sugar free popsicles and Water. I really like the EAS shakes.< /p>

I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow, so I should find out when my surgery date is. Hopefully within the next two weeks. So excited! I have been on the Protein Shakes for about three months now. They recommended them at the kaiser options program. they say its good to build up on your Protein reserve. I take the Premier, they have 30 grams of protein and low on sugar. I love the vanilla flavored ones. I am so happy to have joined this support group. It is a great place to find the support I need and to share my feeling if I like. People here understand my excitement and nervousness as opposed to people around me who might not really like to hear about the whole surgery or anything to do with it.

Day 2 of liquids...not too bad at all...getting all my Protein just fine! I have not been to hungry, but the action of eating something or snacking (read: habit) is hard to shake. The only other thing is that me head has been hurting all day, so far. :( I hope everyone else on their liquids are doing well today! Hang in there!! And for those that have already been sleeved, I hope all is well!

Hi Everyone!! I am on my 10th day out of14 days of my pre op diet. Monday is my surgery date. I really have been doing very good so far. The highlight of my day is SF pudding with Protein in it. Today, I had SF white chocolate pudding with simply vanilla Matrix. I can have unlimited non starchy veggies. I love frying up mushroom and red onions. I dread Sunday the day before surgery, I can only have a Breakfast and the rest of the day clear liquids; the I have to drink that horrible stuff citrate of magnesium at 3:00pm and stay near a bathroom at all times. Yikes! I have to be at the hospital at 5:00am (an hour away) and surgery time is 7:15am.

How is everyone who already been sleeved this month??

I start my pre-op diet on Monday the 16th and will have surgery on the 30th. I am really trying not to go into a full on "food-a-palooza" before the pre-op starts. My biggest issue is going to be giving up my coke zero. But I am too scared of the health consequences that could come if I don't follow my doctor's orders both before and after surgery.

I do not have much support from family or friends so this site has been such a tremendous help to me.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
