jbauti12 got a reaction from Drea in January 2012 Sleevers!I had practically no pain with my surgery, which is uncommon for me, because surgeries in the past I was a wimp. I started driving after 2 days because I was not on any pain medication. My doctor told me I could drive as long as I was not taking any pain medication.

jbauti12 got a reaction from Drea in January 2012 Sleevers!Hi Tif,
I am 2 1/2 weeks out now and the the first two weeks I had only 2 BM's. Passing gas is a very good thing, my doctor told me in the hospital, it means your system is starting to recover from surgery and starting to work properly again, tho it does take some time for a BM, as long as your not feeling constipated.

jbauti12 got a reaction from Drea in January 2012 Sleevers!Hi Drea, Glad to hear you are doing very well. I was sleeved on the 16th and doing well also, I did have stomach spasms everytime I would drink for about a week but now that is over. Like you, it seems like I have no limitations of the amount of things I do. Just been busy running here and there. I glad to hear you progress to different soups. For your dry mouth, my nutritionist said you can chew sugar free gum, that seems to help me, but just remember you need to keep a close eye on your liquid intake and make sure you are not getting dehyrated. Keep up the good work. I have lost 18lbs (including my loss with my pre op diet)

jbauti12 reacted to Tif 2.0 in January 2012 Sleevers!Well, I've been home since yesterday morning and I feel like i'm doing pretty well. I can move to full liquids tomorrow and I'm looking forward to trying some pureed yogurt. As far as pain goes, yesterday I was taking my liquid lortab every 4 hours almost on the dot, today I've been able to stretch it to the 6 hour limit. I'm hoping to wean myself off a little bit more each day.
How long did some of you wait before driving again? I know it says to wait until your not taking the lortab so that's my plan.

jbauti12 reacted to Mel34 in January 2012 Sleevers!Well I'm sleeved! yesterday was the first day to my new life! Surgery went great! hardly had pain, got up and walked around by 4ish, did that a few more times, eating ice chips and doing well.
Today us a different sorry, though! I'm sore and have a hard time taking deep breaths. Can't do the same stuff I was doing yesterday but I was able to eat a small piece of jello. No buyers remorse here!
Congrats EM!

jbauti12 reacted to MzPecanBrown in January 2012 Sleevers!Hi all!
I was sleeved on January 10! YAY! Things have been going ok so far. I couldn't do many of the Protein Shakes that I tried. I settled on Syntrax Nectar, which is pretty good! But I am ready to be done with this phase and move to soft foods. Good luck to all of you! Let me know if I can answer any questions for you!

jbauti12 got a reaction from tiffanye in Pre-op Diet Nightmare!GoshTiffanye, all liquids.. that has to be hard. I am able to have non starchy veggies anytime and in the morning a bowl of cream of wheat. My surgery is 3 days before you. Good Luck to you !!! I am on my 10th day of the pre op diet and stepped on the scale for the first time today and I am down 10lbs. Keeping busy and drinking is the key.

jbauti12 reacted to 4mykids in January 2012 Sleevers!I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow, so I should find out when my surgery date is. Hopefully within the next two weeks. So excited! I have been on the protein shakes for about three months now. They recommended them at the kaiser options program. they say its good to build up on your protein reserve. I take the Premier, they have 30 grams of protein and low on sugar. I love the vanilla flavored ones. I am so happy to have joined this support group. It is a great place to find the support I need and to share my feeling if I like. People here understand my excitement and nervousness as opposed to people around me who might not really like to hear about the whole surgery or anything to do with it.

jbauti12 reacted to janerose in January 2012 Sleevers!Tomorrow is the day - must admit it was a really rough weekend - the pre op diet (five days) on top of the anxiety of the upcoming surgery (on top of watching my two grandchildren ages 2 and 10 for the past four days). I am feeling very anxious and out of sorts.
Yes, I have questioned my decision to go through with the surgery - I love food and it was my comfort - but I want to be healthy and the sleeve will give me the tool to work with to make it all happen.
Just want to make it though the rest of today at work - go home, clean my house, and hopefully relax until 6:00a tomorrow morning
