I Have A Cold And My Gastric Sleeve Surgery Is In 9 Days! Please Help!

My surg date is Dec 5. I felt a cold coming on a few days ago, so I started using Zycam to try to nip it, but today my nose is starting to run and a little stuffy. I AM FREAKING OUT!! :incazzato: I don't want to reschedule. Anyone have the same problem?

You still have plenty of time. See your family doctor on Monday, let them know you have a procedure scheduled and see if they can prescribe you something (if it's that kind of cold). No stress. :)

I had the same thing happen to me. I went and got the extra strength Cold FX 3 day treatment...and it seemed to help. I also let my surgeon know about 4 days before surgery and he said he was not too concerned as long as my cold wasn't just starting, and that my breathing was okay. The day of surgery, I reminded the surgeon & anesthesiologist about my cold, as I was still sniffly.

But I was fine. I had a small cough after surgery, Im not sure if that was from my cold, or from the breathing tubes...but the cough really hurt the incisions...but it only lasted a couple of days.

Try putting a few drops of Eucalyptus Oil on a wet wash cloth. Lay it in the corner of the tub and take a hot steamy shower. The warm wet steam will activate the oil and It will open up your sinuses so you can expel all the mucous. You can do this as many times as you want because it is all natural and homeopathic. You can get it at the pharmacy, Wal-Mart, or Whole Foods. It is very inexpensive and works great. You will think you are at the spa. I used this method when I was pregnant years ago and still do today.

OR You can purchase a Neti Pot but I prefer the Neil Med Sinus Rinse. It just works better than the Neti Pot.

I hope you feel better.

Feeling much better today. I loaded up on Vit C and Zinc and my cold lasted only 2 days! A little tickle in my throat causing me to cough, but at least it is a dry cough. Surgery in 7 days!! :ihih:

I am anxious and want it done NOW! I don't want a stupid little cold to get in my way!
