Dr Nicholson was my sugeon. He heads up the bariatric practice at Baylor Plano. Plano is on the north side of Dallas and has easy acces to Interstate 35 and Highway 75 - the main arteries of Okalhoma. I recommend Dr. Nick highly. I couldn't be happier with both the surgeon and his entire staff.

I was recently approved for surgery and have my one-on-one consultation with Dr. Nicholson next week to choose a surgery date. Although I haven't had surgery yet I did quite a bit of research and attended other seminars. Dr. Nick is highly recommended and operates out of an Center of Excellence hospital, don't think you could go wrong there. Dr. Kim, Dr. Stewart & Dr. Davidson are also good and have been used by many of my co-workers and are in he DFW metroplex. Good luck!

Dr. Greg Walton did mine 4 weeks ago in Edmond, OK. Wonderful doctor! Great, awesome facility! Superb hospital! Terrific experience! Wouldn't dream of going anyplace else!

I would second Dr. Gregory Walton in Edmond, Okla., who performed my sleeve Dec. 27. His office is awesome front to back and I felt well cared for. Personnel at the facility, Summit Medical Center, was just exceptional. Rooms were comfortable and even the small ones (mine) were cozy. They were great dealing with hubby, who was very nervous, but supportive. Great experience.

Had a bad backache today and texted Dr. Walton about it. He texted me right back and then called me. Amazing to have the physician's cell phone #.

I was considering Dr. Walton myself....but was concerned when I saw the website that they would try to "sell" me a bunch of junk. There's a surgeon in Norman, Oklahoma that does that - and that was why I didn't choose him for my Lapband. Now that I'm trying to convert to the sleeve I really would like someone that comes highly recommended.

I just want a good doctor that will file stuff with my insurance company and not try and squeeze all the out-of-pocket money they can get from me.

I think I'll give Dr. Walton's office a call.

Hi MIchelle:

I have been very happy with Dr. Walton. He even gives out his cell phone. The one time I had any concerns with strange, intense aches, he called me back pronto (on the weekend even) and was very engaged.

He also has an impeccable record ... no deaths from complications, which I think Dr. Keith has had. Not that I think Keith wouldn't be a good doctor -- there are so many variables.

Hope that helps ...

Carol

I was private pay- no insurance so money is a big concern. I have never been forced to purchase their items.

On my discharge date I walked out of the hospital, went upstairs and purchased two six-packs of ready-made chocolate Protein shakes, strawberry bannana Jello mix and chicken Soup mix, along with my multi-vitimin.

I purchased the items there because of convience and the products have added Protein in the amounts I need post-surgery. I compared the products to Carnation Instant Breakfast and regular broth from the store, both item lack significantly in the protien department and exceed sodium. Total costs about $30.00

The chewable vitimin was about $28.00 for a three month supply. Again I liked the fact that the vitimin met my specific needs. Prehaps in the fuure I will compare the products with those at Walgreens.

I did not have to do a liquid diet prior to my sugery, only 24 hours prior. I have a friend who did need to do the liquid diet about 5 weeks before and she purchased the product first at the store- then switched to purchasing them at Weightwise for the cost and convience. She lost significantly more pre-op and was in better shape nutrition wise with the Weightwise products.

Best suggestion I can offer is go to the information seminar, look at the facility, attend a support group meeting all are oopen to the public and FREE. Talk to actual patients and ask questions.

You need to be comfortable with the doctor, facility and price. I will say the price is what they say. no hidden fees.

Forgot to add, my surgeon was Dr. Broussard, he and Dr. Walton are the only doctors at Weightwise, Edmond, Oklahoma. I went to my first informational seminar June, 2001 conducted by Dr. Broussard without any knowledge of my family and friends. I was never pressured to make an appointment to proceed with the process.

I contacted Weightwise again last week of November, 2011. My husband and I attended another information seminar with Dr. Broussard. Satisfied with the safety record- no deaths, the facility, the stringent procedure, the post-surgery support as well as the fantastic staff. I cannot tell you enough how much the staff matters as I interact with them much more than the doctor. I am aware of several staff members having the surgery which allows them to speak from personal experience.

I began the process December 5, 2011 completed all the requirements and had surgery January 10, 2012.

I went to my first post-op support group and was surrounded by @ 40 people interested in the process, in the pre-op phase, and patients from one week post op to four years post-op. Topics ranged from how to deal with friends and family not on- board with the surgery to how not to graze on nuts.

At the group several people asked patients who recently had the surgery about concerns such as the post-surgery two week liquid surgery, pain from the surgery, and the hospital stay.

I was amazed the pain from the surgery was very minimal, I took pain medication one time after I left the hospital. My biggest concern was if I would actually feel different inside - the sensation of drinking and eating - would I feel the liquid and food moving through my system? I FEEL NOTHING DIFFERENT

I appreciate you guys taking the time to give me your personal stories. I've contacted Weightwise and am attending a seminar this weekend. Looking forward to beginning my journey out of the band and into the sleeve!

Thanks again for the help.

I used Dr B from Weightwise and I actually had my surgery date set for me before I had all the pre-surgery weight loss complete. I went for my pre-op appointment and didn't quite have all the weight off so I was rescheduled for 2 weeks later. I adore Dr.B and live the program with Weightwise. My pre-op nurse was one of their first sleeve surgeries and she made me feel totally at ease while I was waiting to go back. I would highly recommend this program. I am currently 6months post op and have lost 107lbs. This surgery saved my life, and is helping me have a better quality of life with my 4 year old daughter.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
