Surgery in one week---10/31!!!

Recommended Posts

So, my journey has been a quick one so far--- attended WLS mtg on Sept 27, that next week oct 5&6 did nutritionalist and psychologist appts, met with my surgeon the week after (14th I think) started preop diet on the 17, got my ins approval last Thursday ( the 20th )and my surgery is now 7 days away--- on HALLOWEEN!!!! Needing some advice and tips you have found helpful in the hospital and days after--- I've read the post on here with the list, just wondering if there was anything else I should know?

Your journey has been lightning quick! WOW! I can't complain about mine, but I had to do the 3 month (actually 2) doctor supervised diet. Congratulations! Please save a space for me on the losers bench. I hope to have surgery in a few weeks.

My only advice is to read, read, read on this website! Again, congrats!

I have a question, how does the behavior doctor goes? I'm afraid that they may test me to see if I should get the surgery or not. I really need this, I'm already on the process did my Upper GI exam and bloodwork. I am currently doing 14 weeks of a wellness program in which I have to work out & nutritionist visits. I know I qualify, Im at 51 BMI.

I need info, I want them to approve me for surgery.

@Yunbug: the Psych eval was easy. They had me fill out paperwork about my diet, how I feel about myself, about my childhood, how I felt the surgery will help me, what my expectations are etc. I know the Psychologist I saw doesn't pass everyone, and if you don't pass they give you areas to work on before they pass you for surgery. No big deal, be honest and open. Best wishes to you!

Wow that was quick! It took me approximately 6 months til surgery. My surgery is October 31st as well. I'm so nervous! A lot of my family members and friends are excited for me. I'm not at all because I can't get past my nervousness.

I just found this site and this is my first post!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
