It will be two weeks since my surgery this coming Friday. I am starting to add soft foods and am planning on keeping it low carb. Do you feel there is more success when you follow a strict Low Carb diet? What are some of your favorite low carb foods? Thanks:)

Low carb worked for me. I ate (and still eat) lots of shrimp, scallops, and fish because they're also low-fat or good fat. Ground turkey with taco seasoning, egg and tuna salad, and, surprisingly, steak. chicken does not sit well with me but I have no problems with steak.

I lost 67 pounds in less than a year before the sleeve and another 36 after the sleeve and never counted carbs. I exercise and know you need carbs so you burn it and carbs help burn the fat first else you will burn muscle as you exercise.

I lost over 100 pounds and carbs were never counted but from what I know of what I ate, I am sure my carb count was around 100 to 120.

I'm counting carbs but I'm just a month out. I eat Shrimp, Scallops, Salmon, Flounder- any of the fishes baked or grilled- not fried or battered.

I eat Chobani Yogurt, String cheese, Pork rinds when I want to eat something kind of bad, I make a smoothie with Protein Powder, yogurt,

strawberry, blueberry and a little banana about 2 times a week, I tried chicken this week and it went down fine- it was in a dish I made for my office-

the buffalo chicken dip- I just didn't eat the tortilla chips that I took in with it- I had some pork roast this week that was roasted and very moist-

Today I went to Arby's and got a plain sandwich and ate only the meat about 1 oz- and I have plenty to take to work with me for tomorrow's lunch.< /p>

I've made eggface's crab bites, shrimp bites and plan to make one of her cassouletts tomorrow with sausage and Beans.< /p>

I've had beef Jerky, eggs, fried and poached- and tuna salad with bagle chips- sometimes I still fall back on SF Popsicles, SF pudding or Jello.< /p>

And to drink I just have water- on occasion Decaf tea with stevia or international suisse mocha decaf coffee sugar free.< /p>

I don't often meet my Protein goal- I usually fall somewhere in between 40-50 grams of protein per day but I'm working on it.

I also use the test strips a few times a week to make sure I'm still in ketosis and I notice when I let too many carbs slide in that my levels really change.

But when I go to exercise- I try to get in a little bit of complex carbs through beans or dense veggies- I don't think simple carbs are good for me right now.

A lot of those things listed- I couldn't eat until I was cleared for solids- stage 4.

But- I think it's a personal choice to low carb it or not- for me- I KNOW that carbs are not my friend.

My daily carb intake is usually between 19-35 tho on occasion I go over 40.

AnneG...Thanks for this information. I have always did well on low carb, but seemed to fall back to the dangerous white carbs. Now with the sleeve, I feel it will not be a problem as we can only eat so much. I want to make sure I get all my protein and low carb is the best way.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
