How is weight loss for people over 50?

Two senior citizens were lamenting one day about getting old.The first one says, "My neck hurts so much I have a hard time turning my head left or right". The second one says, "My eyes are so bad with cataracts I can barely see four feet away". The first senior pipes in, "Yes, and my arthritis in my hands is so bad somedays I can't grip anything". The second senior replies, "My hearing is shot, couldn't hear a train coming if it was right in front of me". Then the first senior says, "But at least we still got our driver's license". :Banane30:

As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on I95. P As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on I95. Please be careful!" "Hell," said Herman, "It's not just one car. It's hundreds of them!"lease be careful!" "Hell," said Herman, "It's not just one car. It's hundreds of them!"

Those are brilliant! LOL! Thanks so much for sharing. :biggrin1:

Hi my name is Linda E. I was banded Sept.11 2007. I would like to join the 50 and older club. Im 55 soon to be 56 in dec.Im really happy Im banded. I do realize I have to work with the band and its a tool. I still need to make healthy eating choices and eat small portions. My Dr. Dr. Eagon ( St. Louis, Mo.) said only have 1/2 cup per meal, 2 Snacks and 64 oz. of liquids. Im changeing alot of habits and making new food choices. Since my lap band Im down 15 lbs. Ill be thrilled if this keeps up each month. I take anti depressants and they tend to slow down youre weight loss. I love this thread and I read it as I eat my meals to help me slow down and encourage me. Thanks to everyone out there. Keep up the good work:cool::eek::clap2::clap2::whoo::whoo::):clap2::clap2::whoo:

Hi Linda E and welcome.

Lots of people here talk about cups measurements. I have a cup measurement here in the UK but I do not think I could survive on only one and a half cups of food a day, so I was wondering what would your cup measurement equate to in lbs and ozs.

Howdy, Y'all! I'm 52 and hoping to be banded November 1. I'll know for sure after my doctor consultation next Thursday. I've been catching up on this thread and I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with others who may understand me a little bit more.

Good luck and keep posting!

Hello All,

I'm 62 going on 63. My husband has been on this thread so I decided to read here too. My husband is Don and he is skinnydippn42. He's going for the lap band first as he is 65 and now on Medicare. I'll need to wait most likely untill I'm 65 because Federal BlueCross/Blue Sheild will cover all of what Medicare won't pay. Even 10% is high for us but I had to waight! I've been posting on the introduction thread.

Hi I'm new to this room, it's great to read all the post from everyone. I had my lap band done Jan. 2007 as of today I've lost 71 pounds. Is this about right? My dietician seem to think I was doing just fine, I saw her today for my 3 month check-up! I've had three fills so far, I don't know if that's good or bad :o guess we're all different huh?

Hi Longhorn how are you doing with your band?

JKR

Hi, JKR! I don't have a band yet. I'm hoping to have my surgery November 1.

Your results sound fantastic to me! I hope I'm as successful! :o

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
