9-20-2011 sleeve date

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Just checking in and hoping everyone is having a good day. Panda, you won't stretch your sleeve by freezing you Protein Powder into ice creams. Actually, on a full liquid diet, you ar allowed sugar free posilcles, cremsicles, etc.......so you are fine! Great idea by the way! GeeWhy, I was happy to see that you were not having any problems with getting more than 4oz in at a time. In was worried. Just curious, with all this Fluid drinking, how much should we be taking in and at what intervals? For instance, should we have 4 to 8oz every 20 minutes? Or should we just have 2 litersof Water set up and we just sip on it all day at our leisure until it's gone?

Indeed! I'm having a great day, hope you did too!! Decided to goto the gym and get my 30 min of walking in was great i had a little cramping during but was fine when I got home, and seems like my sleeve unswelled! I got down two cups of Water before lunch! thats been it... lol i took a nap so i missed my 2 cups before snacktime (which was the blended Protein shake got down 3/4cup! Thanks so much Ffr the reassurance was so worried about stretching!) Going to try to get another 16.9 once water bottle down before dinner, and then another after that would be awesome! 6 up from 2! wish me luck!

On the how much per hour my doctor's notes said should take up to 1 hr to drink 8oz but that's for my week 1&2 notes could be different for us 3&4 and so on. Oh yeah and I now drink my Water at room temperature sadly, it goes down better, I've been dying for some ice cold tho!

Glad you two are doing well. Yesterday was easily my worst since I left the hospital. I hit a wall (not literaly!) yesterday around 4:00 and had to leave work and rest, and I was pretty much done for the day. I managed to make some Soup for dinner, ate about 1/2 cup and could physically not make myself eat or drink anymore. I was miserable! Thankfully, MUCH better today... back to my old self. Panda, that's great you're getting so much walking in... I don't think I could walk 30 minutes straight right now if my life depended on it!

Hi! Fortunately, no wall for me...yet. but I tokk all of this week off. I am a physician assistant and work at a hospital on my feet all day. Had I gone back to work, I would've passed out from malnoutrition and dehydration by now. Still having no probs with drinking 8oz at a time.......that's with Soup or broth. When it comes to the Protein, I am doing ok, too. I thought id feel less hungry, but I'm always looking forward to the next serving of soup or yogurt. I would never push the limits of more than a couple bites of yogurt per sitting. My doc has me on full liquids until week number five. I hope I will feel more full once I have pureed/soft foods. Good job on the exercising, Panda. GeeeWhy, glad today is better for you. So have any of u dared to step on the scale yet! Look forward to hearing more!

(TMI Warning)

Ewww i just barfed. Had my Protein ice cream but tried it in strawberry instead of vanilla and i knew it was gonna be a problem from the first spoonful, I ate about 2 or three more and that was the end of that.... I still feel a little nauseous now :( I'm just going to skip my snack now and wait for dinner, Don't think i could keep it down anyways. Gonna try to drink some tea or something hot till then. bleh, need a new plan for Protein again *sigh*

Ter72, Glad your doing okay, Hope you do feel less hungry once you get to soft foods, i do them weeks 3&4 i'm looking forward to actually eating food again, Soup so does not seem like a meal anymore, I want some baked fish and veggies!

I weigh weekly every tues, since surgery I've lost 9.2 it's my first ticker with the turtle. I was 298.0 surgery day and a week after i was 288.8. Have you/anyone else weighed in?

Good morning......panda, so sorry for the ice cream disaster last night. Today is a new day and hopefully will be a good one for you. I know you said that you don't have a Meijer's by you, but you probably can still order the Pure Protein shakes on line from somewhere. Honestly, they are pretty descent.

As for my weight loss, please remember that I started with a band and then had it revised to the sleeve. With that being said, my so-called pre-op weight will be a little less than most.

Pre-op for me was 205 lbs.

Post op day #9 is 197

Total weight loss is 8 lbs

Just curious what you and GeeeWhy consider a "meal" versus a "snack" versus "regular Fluid intake".

Talk to ulu later!

Dang Ter... I would lose my mind if I had to be on liquids for 5 weeks!

Panda, sorry to hear about your episode! Luckily, I have not encountered that, though I'm sure it's coming with solids or mushies at some point.

I just had my follow up with my surgeon this morning. He released me go ahead and start soft foods and, shocker, released me for full exercise. Said I have no limitations. 9 days after surgery! As for the scale, I'm like a moth to the flame... I just can't keep myself from weighing every morning. since I started pre-op on September 6, I'm down 36 lbs. So I'm pretty happy about that. As for Snacks vs meals... well I'm still kind of feeling my way around that. In the liquids phase, I don't think there was much difference... but I think there will probably be a good distinction in the mushies. For Snacks right now I have SF pudding (just cause I love it!), Protein shake, SF popsicles, SF Jello, applesauce. Not sure how all that will change the next couple weeks.

HI all - I too, was banded on the 20th.

My doc had me on Clear Liquids 24 hours after surgery. Still there until today, (10 days out) when I can have Protein 'shake'. Scoop of Protein in 8 oz of milk. Do that once a day for 4 days, then I can go to full liquids. Full liquids meaning anything that can be poured. No chunks, no bits and pieces.

Sounds like most of you have been at this stage way sooner than me.

I've been collecting recipes for the past few days for when I'm ready to 'eat' again.

Welcome Bobbiecz! I'm finding that everyones surgeon is different. I suspect mine wants me only on liwuids for a full month is because the liquids (aka Protein shakes) can be purchased at his office. The thing is, when I was discherged from the hospital, they, too, gave me a diet to follow. I prefer the hospital diet cuz it includes cream Soup, pudding, and yogurt......anyways, hope you are doing well, and nice to have you on this journey with us!

Welcome Bobbiecz! Hope you get to the full liquids sooner then later, I know how much the clear stage sucks =(

Week 3 finally I start my soft diet, yay i get to eat meat! and eggs and real food lol I'm so looking forward to my egg beaters for lunch, lol what a change from my old eating habits, I'm drooling over diet eggs haha. What stage is everyone else on? and how's it been? Haven't been as addicted to the boards lately, still go to the gym every mon-fri, lost 3.4 pounds last week, seems like a little compared to what other people lose in the first weeks but I'll take it over anything. That's solid weight loss gone forever! =D That's what keeps me going.

So how's everyone doing? Have to say I'm struggling a bit with the soft food stage... still losing weight, but I really am having a hard time coming up with food to eat, so I usually end up with Protein Shakes. I am eating chili, and I made some spaghetti sauce with hamburger meat, and both of those go down pretty easily. Made the mistake of trying to eat some pulled pork... got down about an ounce and the restriction hit and I thought I was about to die!

Hey! Nice to hear from you. I can't comment on the solids yet as I am still on full liquid. Wow! We r three weeks out already! I lost 15 lbs and I am pleased. I thought it would come off quicker, though. I see my doc for my first post op visit on Thursday. I hope he let's me move to soft food, but I suspect he will want me on fulls for a full month cuz he wants us on the Protein Shakes that he sells through his office. I haven't had the heart to tell him that his powder shakes taste terrible and that I have been drinking "Pure Protein" shakes from the store. Anyways, hope everyone is doing well. GeeeWhy, you shoul google some recipes or look under the food and nutrition section. Maybe u can get a better food ideas so that you can keep things more of a variety and not get bored.....

Hey guys,

Geeewhy I'm having the same issue I've been eating the same thing like everyday; meat with melted cheese on it, and Protein shakes, i want to mix it up bad lol I was just waiting for week five when I dont have soft restrictions anymore then i can try all the recipes i've been stock piling. Gonna try chili today tho sounds great compared to what i have, thanks

Ter, I can't find pure Protein anywhere but GNC, and they over charge. Sucks I loved getting 35 protein in even before the day has really begun!

Other then the boring food im pretty good been having a little abdominal pain, but it's prob from puking or picking up my 18 month old, i've been nauseous a lot lately =/ I stick to 1/4 cup at meals and doc said everything was fine, and i was healing great.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
