2 1/2 weeks out and the scale's not moving!!!

Recommended Posts

What's wrong with me? I've been at the same weight for over a week, I haven't lost another lb. It's been two weeks since surgery and I've moved to the puree diet. I haven't been able to exercise much because Im still having some pain. But I do walk and go up and down the stairs at least 5 times a day. Why am I not loosing?

Search the "three week stall" Almost everyone gets it... it is normal and you are not doing anything wrong. Mine lasted for 4 weeks!

I had it too! About 2 weeks after surgery...the scale literally did not move up or down an ounce. For me, I was not eating enough. The body is designed to try and maintain a state of homeostasis and will do everything it can to try and "survive". The more you can mix things up with number of calories, types of foods, and exercise...the more likely you are to break the stall.

Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks post op and the scale hasn't moved in four days. Not an ounce. I immediately had that feeling of failure that came with every old diet attempt over the past 20 years. I'm fighting tears as I write this because I am really hoping that I didn't put my body (and bank account) through all of this to fail yet again.

I'm on a 4 week post op diet of 3 Protein shakes and 2 fat free yogurts. I usually get down 2 shakes and 2 yogurts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Read up here on the Three Week Stall. Almost everyone gets it and what you are doing is not wrong. Chill out and hang on tight, when people say this surgery is a roller coaster, they were not kidding. And think a minute here.. how could you stay the same forever n less than 700 calories a day? Worry will not make you lose faster.

I feel your pain. I will be 2 weeks out tomorrow, and I haven't been losing really since I added full liquids. I can barely get half of my Protein in, and I'm not even going over 500 cal/day. I don't understand how I am not losing. I am ready to get smaller, and today I don't feel smaller. I am really working on getting all my Water in, and it's not helping. What is wrong with this picture. I'm not ready to stall yet. I know I can't lose forever, eventually there will be maintaining, but I want to lose now. I lost 10 the week before the surgery, and 10 the week after (while on clear liquids), but nothing this last week. HELP!!!

Melissa,

We talked before...our surgeries were the same day.

What is your post op diet? are you eating enough?

Hi Kate,

I'm on pureed foods for another two weeks. I probably am not getting enough calories. Its really hard because I'm not hungry, and I feel like if I keep forcing god down, I'll stretch my new stomach out and be right back where I started. How have you been doing? Are you still losing? I hope its going well for you.

Melissa: i am stalled too. 18lbs pre op. 11lbs aftwr but not an ounce since Thursday. It's so discouraging. I'm on the same diet that I was preop...3 Protein Shakes and 2 yogurts. It's so discouraging when I'm on strict liquids and not losing. I have two more weeks of this diet too. I think he does the 6 weeks of shakes because he sellS his own special shake. It's so gross too!

I'm also trying to force the shakes down. I'm not hungry and worry about the same thing...be right back were I was.

Let's hope for a good week and a few lbs!

1 week after surgery I stalled and I was 4 weeks out on Friday. Finally, Saturday I stepped on the scale and was down 5 lbs., I stepped on it again this morning and lost another pound. I just had to step on it again this morning to make sure I was seeing right because the scale hadn't moved in 3 weeks. Hopefully I will continue to lose a while before another stall because that was really depressing. :o

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
