I went to Mexico on 2/18/2011 and had vertical sleeve. Everything went well and the weight was falling off. On June 8th my only sister and best friend died in a car accident. My world fell about. I quit taking my Vitamins, watching Protein and just tried to eat my way through the grief. Fortunately my stomach did not allow me to go back to food for comfort. I have not lost as much as some but I am still happy with my weight loss. I have lost 57lbs in 7 months. I think if things had went different for me I would have lost more but we all deal with the cards we are dealt. I am just now starting to settle back down. My sister had 3 children that I have inherited and I have been focused on getting them settled and estate settled and so forth. I am committed as of October 1st to start focusing on myself and my health so I can live to raise all these kids. :). So hopefully my weight loss will pick back up. I think right now I am not eating enough and getting my protein in so my body is storing. The weather is getting cooler so I am out of excuses not to exercise. Hopefully, at my 1 yr I will be at goal with hard work and exercise. Oh, and my child has broken and dislocated his shoulder. He had surgery last week so I think I have some pretty good excuses right now but 10/1 look out the excuses are over and I'm getting on the weight loss train again but hopefully for the last time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose my sister (who is also my best friend). I will be following your journey and keeping you in my thoughts as you tackle taking care of yourself. I know how hard that will be, but I wish you the best. Good luck!

Wow! You have been through an extraordinary amount of grief in the last few months and look how strong and confidant you sound now! I can't even imagine losing my sister and for that to happen, and then your injured son it is amazing how well you have done! I wouldn't look at it as "only 57 lbs"... I would look at it like "heck yeah, I lost 57 despite everything going on in my life". Thanks for sharing with us and I hope things start looking up for you and your newly expanded family :)

So so sorry for your loss! Those kids are so lucky to have you there for them, best of luck with that. You have the right idea, getting back on track to be there for them (and you!) I am one month ahead of you and have lost 67 pounds so I think you are doing great in the weight loss department. Get that Protein in though, you need your strength lady!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
