Slooow Burn in my belly ... is this the acid issue everyone speaks of???

I have this kind of burn in my stomach and I feel hungry a LOT. I've never had to deal with any acid issues before so I'm not familiar with what it actually feels like but .... I "think" this is it. It's been suggested here before to myself and others that after surgery you sometimes need to take a acid reducer.

Here's my issue ... I've recently joined the ranks of the unemployed without medical coverage. Do I HAVE to go to the Dr. to get a prescription for the acid stuff or can I just go get something OTC?? I'm saving my pennies for the event that a REALLY need to go see the Dr. ie ... and issues which THANKFULLY I've never had. :D

NOTE: I know that I "should go see a Dr. for a professional opinion" AND that nobody here is a Dr. ... therefore not authorized to give medical advice. lol Sooo I'm more interested in "been there done that advice". lol ;)

Thanks in advance!!!

PS ... I had surgery 8/17 and take 2 Omeprozal before bed per my surgeon (they're almost gone).

I also recently discovered that my G2 was not helping my heartburn. Also, my Fuze Slenderizer drinks have malic acid (a milder form of citric acid). I stopped drinking both and taking Zantac 150mg twice a day, and that has helped! My acidy feeling has moved up from mid-chest to my throat; never felt it in my stomach. I hope that's a sign that the acid is going away. I hope you're all heartburn free when you read this!

Acid feelings in the throat are reflux. Reflux is when stomach acid is forced up into the esophagus; sleeve patients have a lot of problems with this and need to be very mindful of it. Constant or repeated reflux can actually lead to esophageal cancer (and other problems).

Definitely work on controlling your acid (and reflux) with omeprazole or some other acid blocker. You can also use situational antacids when you're still feeling the burn; omeprazole isn't a quick fix.
