  1. I'm going to Costco with a friend for the first time. As I've been reading threads I seem to remember several people who say they got this or that from Costco. I know I'm going to look for the liquid protein that someone mentioned. Also I think someone else mentioned chicken burgers. Any other suggestions???
  2. I have this kind of burn in my stomach and I feel hungry a LOT. I've never had to deal with any acid issues before so I'm not familiar with what it actually feels like but .... I "think" this is it. It's been suggested here before to myself and others that after surgery you sometimes need to take a acid reducer. Here's my issue ... I've recently joined the ranks of the unemployed without medical coverage. Do I HAVE to go to the Dr. to get a prescription for the acid stuff or can I just go get something OTC?? I'm saving my pennies for the event that a REALLY need to go see the Dr. ie ... and issues which THANKFULLY I've never had. NOTE: I know that I "should go see a Dr. for a professional opinion" AND that nobody here is a Dr. ... therefore not authorized to give medical advice. lol Sooo I'm more interested in "been there done that advice". lol Thanks in advance!!! PS ... I had surgery 8/17 and take 2 Omeprozal before bed per my surgeon (they're almost gone).

  4. Soooo Thanksgiving was rough for me .... I honestly felt sad because I couldn't eat. I was happy that I couldn't buuut I just missed the food. I didn't measure my food I just put a little bit of this/that on my plate and couldn't eat 1/2 of it ... heck I couldn't even eat a fourth of it. I did enjoy my friends but ... couldn't help mourning my old friend ... food. I know I had too many carbs because I didn't start with Proteins. I was kind of scared to weigh myself because I felt that i'd gained. Today I weighed myself and my suspicions were confirmed. I'm not gonna trip out about the gain ... just making note of it and the cause and moving forward.
  5. I had surgery Aug.17 2011. I used to weigh myself every day but it was driving me CRAZY now I get on the scale every Sat morning ... Sun if I forget to do it Sat. Aug. 4 started pre op diet - Aug 19 first weigh in after surgery (during leak test): - 12lbs Aug. 27: -9.6 lbs Sept. 8: -2.4 lbs Sept. 17: -3.5 lbs Sept. 24: 4.3lbs Oct. 1: -4lbs Oct. 7: -1.2 lbs Oct. 15: -3.4 lbs Oct. 22: -3.2 lbs Oct. 29: -0.8 lbs Nov.6: - 4.8 lbs Nov. 13: - 6 lbs

    I too need to lose the love handles & bottom belly. I don't have a hernia so as far as I know I need to do cardio, cardio, cardio. I hope someone answers...
  8. First let me give my apology in advance because this is TMI ... I'm embarressed to even posting this. However I reaaalllyyy want/ need to know if this has happened to anyone else. I normally go 2-3 times per week if that, this is all my life. However the past week & a 1/2 I've been going almost every day ... sometimes 2x's per day. This in itself is weird to me. Then add in the fact that its a weird green color and a very small amount each time. Then yesterday & today there was a little bit of blood. I'm still looking for a job so I don't have insurance right now. However I'm considering going to the Dr. and praying he doesn't have to run too many tests. :-( This is the first time in my life that I have had to even think about "if" I was going to go to the Dr. I'm used to being able to just go to the Dr. whenever I need to. This SUUUUUUCKS!!! Has this issue happened to anyone else???
  9. It's funny you said that @ lyndynojo. I've been thinking about everything I've eaten/drank and things I've done differently. As I walked into my room just now my eyes went directly to my drink of choice for the past few weeks ... OceanSpray sugar free Cran-Pomegranate drink mix. It's very, very dark once it's mixed in my 16.9oz Water bottle its dark purple. It even turns my lips a dark red color. I don't know if my lack of eating has anything to do with things?? I can honestly say for the last few weeks I only eat when I get really hungry. I never really got into a "good" routine and lately I've strayed even further away. Daily I might eat 1/2 cup of ff cottage cheese, and a chicken leg from El Pollo Loco or a Protein shake and a leg/wing from El Pollo Loco. Honestly after my breakup & the fact that I can't seem to find a job I haven't been in the greatest of spirits. On a positive I have been taking my B12 & Multivitamin more consistently.lol I will probably follow up with a Dr. as soon as I can.
  10. Thanks ... I too am a hypochondriac and have scoured the internet for info. I'm here asking if this has happened to anyone else. I understand that this is an issue that should be diagnosed by a Dr. Just wanted to know if others have gone through it. Thanks for info.
  11. Squirt, Ruby Red Squirt or Canada Dry Ginger Ale right now. Seriously ... I haven't had a pop since I started my preop diet Aug 4. I want one soooooooooo bad. I really just need a drink with a kick!! I'd even take one of those carbonated waters from Walmart. Heeeeeelp!!!! How do you deal with the cravings???
  12. Went out to dinner with my daughter for her birthday. I really can't believe the difference in the amount of food I eat. I make my daughter split an entree with me (don't judge me) when we go out to eat ever since surgery. The portions are huge so ... we both end up with enough. Anywho ... got the free chips & queso ... I ate may 7. We got the chicken fajitas for dinner and I had 2 chicken strips & some cheese, sour cream,onions & bell peppers. I ate the 2 strips of chicken & a little bit of the other stuff but left most on my plate. My daughter got the chocolate cookie w/ icecream for her birthday. I tasted it. Pre Surgery would have been a whoooooooole different post!!! I freakin love this sleeve!!!!

    Makes perfect sense @ Sassy. The surgery really makes you notice portion sizes and how ginormous they are. A friend of mine warned me of this presurgery.

    NOTE to self .... no matter how good it looks never EVER try the dessert. Uuuuuggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh horrible sick to my stomach feeling. I'm confident it was the too sweet dessert. Uuuggghhhhh I still love my sleeeve....

  17. First ... I'm not completely sure I was in the correct size to start with. LOL After seeing Oprah, Tyra & the ladies on the view telling me that I'm wearing the wrong size I'm just not certain. LOL As you all know a good bra can get pricey so I don't want to go out and buy them all the time. However ... as we all also know ... wearing a good bra can make you look so much better in your clothes. At what point did you buy new bras?? Was it a certain amount of inches or amount of weight lost?
  18. If i remember correctly I didn't have one for at least 2 weeks post op. However ... I'm not super regular. I used Benefiber and drank some prune juice. It still took days for anything to happen. Think our bodies are just in shock mode. Trying to hold on to everything it can ... even the stuff that clearly needs to GO! lol
  19. So those who have read my posts know of my obsession with the scale and my fears of losing sooooo slowly. So since I was giving myself ulcers worrying about my weight and on / off the scale 10x's a day I have FORCED myself (it's been a struggle) to ONLY get on the scale on Saturday mornings. So... I started that 9/17/11 and I've consistently lost 4lbs each week. So I've been a pretty happy camper. Then ... today ... 1lb down. Yes ... I'm happy it was a minus instead of a gain however .... it's missing the other 3lbs. lol I got on the scale like 5x's in a row just to see if it was going to change. LOL The GOOD thing is that I've already been thinking about what I've done differntly in the past week and I see a LOT of opportunities for improvement. #1 ... Protein, Protein, Protein (the GOOD kind). As I type this I'm forcing down a 30g premeire Protein shake. Mmmm Mmmm goood . I've been eating breaded chicken nuggets, a tablespoon of mashed or a few noodles with my protein. I need to get back to the lean and mean Proteins. No breading just plain old chicken or fish. #2 ... Last week was a toughy I went through a break up that was looong overdue but still hurts. Which led me to Pillsbury Sweet Moments, Bite Sized Brownie Bites .... Now that I think about it ... my ex purchased those for me!! I think it was a secret attempt to get me to gain weight as his parting gift ... LMAO. Anywho ... I called myself "rationing" them out and led myself to believe they weren't really that bad because I wasn't eating an entire serving size. NUT FACTS: 3 pieces (serving) ... I would only eat 2 pieces! LOL Calories (per serv) 180 , Carb 25g, Sugar 19g , Protein 2 g. I was eating 2 per day since Sunday soooo let's just say I got my fair share! I can't bring myself to throw away good chocolate so ... I'm going to let my daughter take them to school with her on Monday. I'm confident NONE will return. lol In addition to that he cooked a HUGE pan of lasagna last week also. Bad, Bad, Baaad. It was just a rough food week all the way around. #3 Not much movement barely any walking and only 1 day at the gym. I did a hot hula fitness class that I will go back and try again. #4 Barely any sleep and stressing out because I'm STILL looking for a new job. I have to force myself to turn my mind off to get some sleep. My daughter has to be at the bus stop at 5:49am so I have to get up at 4ish to make sure she's up and getting ready ... then take her to the bus stop. I usually go to bed after midnight (if I'm lucky). The bus stop isn't too far so sometimes we walk (if we leave on time). So I do get a bit of exercise then. Then when I get home I'm so tired I lay back down until 10-12pm which throws my whole eating cycle off because when I get up I don't really eat. I might eat for the first time around 1pm. #5 Plus Aunt Flo made a visit. TMI SOOORRRYY. lol However, this is actually a PLUS because as I gained weight over the years I was very very irregular. Prior to me gaining all the weight I was like clockwork every month. Well ... since my surgery and losing 37lbs (including pre op diet) I'm getting back to regular again!! :-) So ... next week I WILL do better. I'm going to the grocery store this weekend and get more of my fave FF cottage cheese along with other GOOD proteins. I'm going to make it my mission to move my butt more in the exercise portion of things. I'm going to "try" to stop stressing about the lack of employment opportunities here in wonderful Las Vegas. You'd think that if studies show less than 20% of Nevada residents have a Bachelors and I have that plus I'm currently working on my MBA there would be no WAY I wouldn't have a job by now!! I digress ... sorry. Moving on ... I'm going to STOP thinking the "what if's" pertaining to my ex. I'm going to stop watching Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings, and A Baby Story every freaking day! Last but not least I'm giong to stop beating myself up about everything that I'm NOT doing and focus on the POSITIVES in my life! Thanks all for letting me vent. Hope everyone else had a MUCH better week!

    LOL yes ... I technically lost about 240 lbs. LOL Don't think he was a chubby chaser ... I was muuuuuuuuch smaller when we got together. We had other issues... lol It probably would've been easier if it was weight related. I was eating 2 per day for a week so I got a ton of chocolatey sugar last week. LOL This week will be better!!! Thanks the well wishes on school!!!

  22. I know I've read posts from people who say they no longer drink shakes in order to get all their Protein. I just don't understand what they're eating to make this happen. I can see it being possible after your several months out but ... how is it possible at the 1 -3 month period? I'm trying to get in as much as I can but I'm not geting 60g consistently. I would LOVE to see some examples ....

    I have dreams that I'm drinking a big ice cold glass of Canada Dry ... yumminess. :-) in my dream I keep thinking "you shouldn't be drinking pop" yet I keeep sipping. I then wake up panicked that I messed up my stomach. LOL
  24. I'm 6 weeks out & I'm amazed at what some can eat. After reading this thread I feel like I need to reevaluate my meals. I'm still eating almost 100% Protein ... no veggies usually & I just added 2tablespoons of pineappls to my cottage cheese for the first time yesterday. B- 1/2 c FF CC (yesterday I added 2 tablespoons of crushed pineapples for the first time) or 1 boiled egg & 1 turkey sausage link or 2 turkey sausage & 1 laughing cow cheese lite S - laughing cow cheese lite & a few slices of deli meat (don't always eat a snack) L - laughing cow cheese lite & a few slices of deli meat or 3oz of tilapia D- 1/2 cup of chicken or shrimp or 3oz of tilapia
