  1. Wow ... I moved across country 3 years ago and since then I've really lost "real" contact with my friends back home. I've only told 1 and she's the one who had lapband last year and looks WONDERFUL now. So she's super excited for me in this process. In regards to all my new frieds I have only told 1. I'm the "big" friend at this point. I think they'd be happy for me but I really don't want the "watchful" eye and all the questions. To me ... that was ALWAYS the most annoying thing when you let people know you're trying to lose weight. Best of luck to all of you!!!!
  2. My surgeon said no soda for 6 weeks. There's sooooooo many conflicting stories from pre op to post op. I used to love the waters from Walmart ... I think they're carbonated though. I too need something with a "kick" just water or juice don't always hit the spot.
  3. It seems the body is a wonderful and frustrating thing!!! We go through all this trouble jumping through massive amounts of loops for insurance or saving/borrowing/charging our pennies if we are self pay. Then hop up on that table and count backwards until the lights go out. All the while praying that THIS IS IT FINALLLY!!! Then we eat sample sizes of food and exercise and you would think that our bodies would fall in line and just get with the freakin program!!! Gotta laugh to keep from crying. :-( WE WILL SURVIVE ... AND BE SMOKIN HOT WHILE DOING IT!! :-)
  4. I have decided I will ONLY get on the scale Saturday mornings. This way I won't drive myself crazy all week several times a day. I'm trying to remain confident because I know this HAS to work for me.
  5. I really think it was the juice because since I stopped drinking the V8 the burn has decreased substantially. I've also not had any of my water mix ins since I posted this thread because I was too scared. lol For a few days it was HORRIBLE. Now I just add lemon juice to my water and that doesn't bother me. For the most part the burn is gone. I'm soooo happy I'm not still chugging V8 with a burning belly wondering what the problem is. lol THAAAAANKS for all the advice and suggestions!!!
  6. Thanks everyone for the hugs and well wishes. In my mind I KNOW I am better off with the surgery but I can't help getting a little depressed when I look at the scale. I think I'm going to force myself to only get on it 1 time per week. I am a scale o holic normally. I'm talking several times a day. It's crazy how that number can change my entire mood! In regards to my starting weight I've NEVER told anyone how much I weigh. Waaaay too embarresing for me. I even tell my Dr. to look away! LOL Let's just say I am on the higher end of the weight scale. Which means my weightloss shouldn't have slowed down yet. I measured myself the day before surgery and since 8/16 this is what's happened. NOTE: My daugher is doing the measuring sooo I "hope" it's in the same place everytime she's 13 and let's just say ... this is a TRYING time. I won't even get started on that stress .... Moving on ... Start 8/16 Today 9/17 R arm 17 15 L arm 17 15 Bust 52 50 Waist 49 47 Hips 55 53 R thigh 31 31 L thigh 32 31
  7. From PreOp diet started Aug 4th to the leak test 2 days after surgery I lost 12lbs.
  8. Prior to having this surgery I thought it was the ANSWER to my prayers. I've been on every diet known to man and I've probably tried each of them 2-3 times each. I have struggled with my weight FOREVER. I did have a few good years senior year of high school ... through the age of 22 then it was up up and away with the weight. I feel like I've been on a diet my entire life and I'm SICK of it! So I decided a few years ago that I was going to get the lapband and got denied, denied, denied. So I finally said *&^% it I'm going to pay for it myself and started saving my pennies. Then I heard about the sleeve and researched and watched countless Youtube videos. Which led me to choose it instead of the band. I started my PreOp diet on Aug 4th ... I lost 12lbs from preop to 2 days after surgery. I started preop diet Aug. 4th. I expected to lose because I was STARVING and not eating any food for 2 weeks so I figure HOW can you not lose on this? Today is my 1 month Surgiversary and I have MADE myself not get on the scale everyday for the last week so I could weigh myself today and finally see it UNDER a certain number. I was only 6 lbs away the last time I weighed myself. I figured even if I didn't hit the # I'd probably only be 1-2 lbs away. Which would be the first time seeing my weight under that point in years for me. Soooo I get on the scale and it's 5lbs above that number. I've only lost 16lbs since that 3 day Post Op surgery. I'm kind of sad because I feel like no matter WHAT I do my body just won't lose this weight. This seems like deja vu all over again. Every diet I've tried I've been starving 99.9% of the time and the freaking scale still barely moves. I've tried the stupid diet pills and exercised like a crazy person and the scale barely moves. NOW I've cut out most of my *%! stomach and the scale BARELY moves!!! I am sad and pissed off at the same time. I only told a few people about my surgery but I'm already feeling embarrassed thinking ... what if this doesn't work either?? My mind is spinning and all I can think is ... I actually PAID someone to cut out most of my stomach and I might still be fat the next time friends/ family back home see me because this didn't work either. UUGGGHHHHHHH I just want to rewind the tape and have a do over. If I could lose 12lbs in 2 weeks WITH all my stomach and only lose 16lbs in one month after cutting out most of my stomach I feel like I've made the WRONG decision and this was for nothing!!! Sorry ... I had to vent I'm feeling really bad right now and I'm thinking there's NOTHING I can do about it. It's not like they can put my stomach back in. Super Annoyed right now...
  9. I look forward to giving the Couch to 5K plan a try. At what weight do you think running won't hurt the knees? I still have 2 weeks before I can do anything more than walking. I'm sooooo looking forward to Kickboxing and maybe some Zumba.
  10. I need help with the counting / measurements. For example when you make something like chicken salad ... do you just add up all the ingredients then divide by how much you eat?? Do you measure the chicken breast first to know how many ounces it is which will let you know how much Protein is in it??? Soooooo confused. :-(
  11. Woooow I didn't even THINK about my mix ins. I just got the box and the very first ingredient is Citric Acid!!!! Then ... about 6 ingredients later is Ascorbic Acid .... whatever that is??? Guess I gotta find new mix ins. I actually just took my Omeprozol and my stomach started burning .... lol Could it be the meds?? Geeesh I'm tired of this.
  12. I know I've read posts from people who say they no longer drink shakes in order to get all their Protein. I just don't understand what they're eating to make this happen. I can see it being possible after your several months out but ... how is it possible at the 1 -3 month period? I'm trying to get in as much as I can but I'm not geting 60g consistently. I would LOVE to see some examples ....
  13. I don't drink coffee, alcohol (yet) ... the only juice I've had lately is V8 splash ... could that be it??? I didn't even think about it ... I'm not going to drink another sip. I eat/drink babybel lite cheese, chicken, tilapia, chicken/turkey deli meat slices, costco chocolate Protein shakes & Water (with flavorings) .... that's it. :-( I stay hungry ... but now I don't know if I'm hungry or if its the acid. :-( Looking forward to relief!
  14. Uuugghhhhhhh :-( I called my surgeon and he told me I can take 1 pill in the morning & 1 at night. I tried to do that but ended up having to take 2 because it was burning so bad. I think I need something waaaay stronger. It wasn't this bad before ... now it seems to be getting worse. The Dr. suggested I get some Nexium but when I went to Wallymart at the crack of dawn they said it was in the pharmacy and they were closed. I will be going back ... I'm going to look for a liquid form. :-( this suuuuuucks!!!!
  15. I feel like I'm on that slow moving train also. I had surgery 8/17 and I've lost 14-16 lbs depending on the day. I hope I can say I've lost a solid 20lbs when my 1 months surgiversary comes along but it's only 4 days away so we shall see. I'm NOT getting on the scale again until the 17th. I'm trying not to be discouraged because I guess I'm technically still a "newbie" but it's pretty difficult for me not to be nervous and think this isn't going to work for me. My surgeon told me to wait 2 more weeks before I hit the gym. I really hope that the kickboxing and zumba and strength training will help. PreOp when I'd work out and eat better and I'd always get the "have you lost weight" questions ...but the scale wouldn't move an lb. For some strange reason my body LOOOOVES to hold on to excess weight. <sigh>
  16. Kelly THANKS for the response! Do you know if Omeprozal is the equivalent of the other acid reducers out there? In other words are they all basically the same thing ... just by a different name? Omeprazole, Prilosec, Prevacid, Zegerid ... Generic brands ... UUGGHHH I'm getting a headache just thinking about all the choices. lol
  17. I have this kind of burn in my stomach and I feel hungry a LOT. I've never had to deal with any acid issues before so I'm not familiar with what it actually feels like but .... I "think" this is it. It's been suggested here before to myself and others that after surgery you sometimes need to take a acid reducer. Here's my issue ... I've recently joined the ranks of the unemployed without medical coverage. Do I HAVE to go to the Dr. to get a prescription for the acid stuff or can I just go get something OTC?? I'm saving my pennies for the event that a REALLY need to go see the Dr. ie ... and issues which THANKFULLY I've never had. NOTE: I know that I "should go see a Dr. for a professional opinion" AND that nobody here is a Dr. ... therefore not authorized to give medical advice. lol Sooo I'm more interested in "been there done that advice". lol Thanks in advance!!! PS ... I had surgery 8/17 and take 2 Omeprozal before bed per my surgeon (they're almost gone).
  18. I wait 30 min after eating ... I'm always staring at the clock waiting to have a drink. lol I couldn't imagine waiting 1hr. Will you be able to cut back to 30 min in the future Mina?
  19. I always knew I was a "drinker" but I notice it SOOOOO much more now that I can't eat/drink within 15-30 min of each other. I was the person at the table who would've had 1-3 refills before my food even came. I realize I was drinking a LOT of calories when I drank Sprite (my drink of choice) sooo I switched it up to Water with lemons/cherries (on the side). That was a healthier solution but ... with the sleeve I still have to wait on that too. It's taking some getting used to on my part when it comes to not drinking /eating together. Sometimes I just want a sip to wash it all down and change the flavor. I find its even more difficult when I go out to eat with family or friends. What old habits are dieing hard for you??
  20. I had surgery 8/17 and I'm sooooooooo READY to hit the gym for some Kickboxing. I've been reading posts and some say 6 weeks some say sooner. I've emailed my patient coordinator but haven't gotten a response yet. I feel like my loss has been a little slow so I'm ready to "get this weightloss party started". I don't have any pains or issues (other than the weird pain by my belly button when I make certain movements).
  21. I'm trying to get it in where I can fit it in. Which isn't much .... I think I need to get myself on some sort of schedule so HOPEFULLY my body will get into the weight loss portion of things.
  22. Hey Emma ... what type of protein shakes are you drinking? The thought of drinking 2 of the kind I have makes me want to blow chunks. lol
  23. I was sleeved on 8/17 and am in my mushy stage now. I recently purchased the Protein shakes from costco so I've been forcing one down at around 6am when I drop my daughter off. After that .... I eat when I think about it. My scale really hasn't moved much (down 12lbs since surgery) & now that I think about it maaaaybe I'm doing this all wrong?? Maybe my body thinks it's starving & holding onto weight? So anywho ... are you on a schedule? If so are you eating every 2hrs, 3 hrs? Are you eating Snacks?? Are you weighing / measuring everything? If yes ... how much / little are you eating at a time? I'm going to a local support group next week. I look forward to learning more about the process. Thanks in advance.
  24. Can you eat boiled eggs on mushy phase? I don't like any other type of egg.
