What are you drinking your water out of???

Recommended Posts

Okay I'm getting the theme Water Water and more water. I'd like to know what you all are drinking your water out of?? Did you go out and buy a certain size reusable water botter? If so what brand ... from where?

I want to have something that is XYZ oz so I know ... okay I have to drink 3 of these a day. That way is MUCH easier for me... I drink water now but by the end of the day I usually have no clue how many liquids I've had.

Gotta get better at this counting everything routine.

You know EVERYONE says don't use a straw, but my doctor and I had agreed that if I can drink better from a straw and get the fluids down, then do so. . .and that is what i have done this past 2 years without any complications. . . i DONT used "special" knives, forks, spoons, plates, cups, that is a waste, just a straw. . i adjust to what i like without the extra expense. Good luck!

I have been drinking with a straw since week 4, not a big deal!!

I have one of those BIG hard, plastic starbucks cups with a lid and straw. I keep er' filled with ice, Water and Mio!!

Hope this helps!

I just drink out of a 16 oz glass at home, and put a tick mark in my food journal when I fill it up. In the car, I use bottled Water and just record however many oz. it is.

Mostly I do bottled Water (even filtering our tap water doesn't make it good). Sometimes I will use a 16 oz or 20 oz Tervis Tumbler if it is other than water, I love the lids and they are great to keep things cold/hot. Lifetime guarantee too!

Oh I love the Tervis tumblers...I have tons of them. That is what i use every day. It keeps my water/ice cold and no sweating glass all over my desk. I also use the lids with a straw in the car. You can get 16 oz or a 24 oz at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I use Rubbermaid bottles. You can get them in the grocery store by where the plastic containers are. Pre-op I drank out of 32 oz bottles, now I"m using the 20 oz and drink 3-4/day. I freeze them about 1/3 full of Water, so when I fill it with Water the next day the ice lasts a good while and keeps it cold. I actually have three in front of me right now - one with water, one with crystal light, and one with Isopure. They are dishwasher safe too.

I crochet little coozies for them so they won't sweat on my desk :)

here's a couple that I've made:

Kami ... very cute!!! My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was younger but I couldn't begin to do it now. :-( The snuggies would serve a double purpise for me because it helps for me NOT see how much Water I have to go. :-)

I go by Sonic and get a 32 oz unsweet tea with XX ice and sip on it all day, then stop on the way home and get it refilled with ice and Water with a slice of lemon and lime, and sip on that the rest of the day. I don't finish either all the way, but oh well, close enough. Oh, and when I swallow air.........I burp. Problem solved.

I know KAMI- I have 4 of those rubber maid ones- I'd love to buy one of the covers you've made- nothing worse that a sweaty Water bottle- I"m always wrapping paper towels around mine

and fastening a rubber band around it. haha

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
